Tell me about it, I had mine at Christmas and I'm starting to get worried. Darent hit the pads.
Got me paranoid aswell, thought the UNDO SEQ light had messed up last night.

i completely agree. it sucks.
the pads should never be an issue, but eventually they are.

i tried to avoid buying anything else, but after my pads started going bad i found a used mpd16 and the pads felt completely different (in a good way). now that i have it i can go back to making beats without having to worry about pad issues.

its ridiculous that this is the situation but it works. i dont want a 2500, and i dont want to get a 2000xl so this seems to be the best solution.

the only problems i've had with the 1000 are the pads, and now i dont have to sweat it. the mpd-16 feels way better. and i'm definitely happier spending money on that instead of crappy replacement pads.

use the enigma editor.............there should be a preset for this if not, when i am not so busy, i will make a bank/program so you can use that.

I TRIED MESSIMG AROUND WITH THE ENIGMA AND I KNOW I MUST BE DOING SOMETHING WRONG. ANY SIMPLE ADVISE ON THE WORKINGS OF THE ACTUAL TRIGGER FINGER WOULD BE HELPFUL ALSO. AT THIS POINT IM NOT WRAPPING MY HEAD AROUND IT. SO FAR IM JUST EXCITED TO HAVE PADS THAT RESPOND PROPERLY. NOW I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IM DOING. THANKS AGAIN TO ANYONE WHO TAKES TIME OUT TO HELP ME.

OK heres my broken pad story:)

I recently bought a 2nd Hand 1000 off a guy who never used it, he didn't even know how to use it and I found out pretty quickly that pads 1 & 2 [more pad 1 than 2 ] are dead...I can get some velocity registered but I have to pound it hard to register...I've done the pad test and tried different curves but to no avail...I am pretty confident that the MPC was not hammered by the original owner at all, in fact it was almost in pristine condition...he was into doof music [auugh]

But anyway there is some light in the tunnel...I had a Trigger Finger before and was running battery so I simply connected the Trigger Finger to teh MPC1000 midi in and programmed up 4 pad banks on teh Trigger Finger in accordance with the MPC...so now I can play the Trigger Finger pads and if I want also teh pad bank on teh MPC similtaneously..which as it turned out to be quite handy when I had the MPC pads [all bar the broken 2 pads] filled with Kicks and Snares and teh Trigger Finger Pads filled with hats n percussion it was handy when I needed to audition a heap of hits to find the right ones...givin I purchased 2nd hand I don't have any recourse on the matter and I really love the MPC1000..I guess I'll just have to live with it...my advice is for people with damaged or faulty pads to look at teh Trigger Finger, IMO the pads on teh Trigger Finger are heaps better than the MPC anyway...they have a lower profile, are bigger & have dry'er gum rubber feel similar to my old SDP11 drumpads...I'm not technically inclined to pull apart my MPC so this was a great solution with the added pad bank option
hope this is of use to someone...

I programmed teh 4 pad banks via the Trigger Finger knobs, dialing up teh appropriate MIDI note...I tried Enema software but the program transfer never works?...use the dials, its tedious but you only have to do it once..prolly take about 5-10mins to do..pz

OK, I FIGURED OUT HOW TO PROGRAM THE PADS TO RESPOND TO THE 1000 AND SAVE BUT, IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THE TRIGGER FINGER RESPOND WHEN I PRESS 16 LEVELS ON THE MP FOR VELOCITY,TUNE ECT.... CAN THIS BE DONE? AND IF SO HOW?

yeah thats the **** bit, u cannot access 16 levels features via an external MIDI source...you must use teh MPC's pads for these features, an issue that is making me consider fixing/replacing my pads but for now its only 1 bad pad & 1 semi-bad pad

THANKS FOR THE INFO- AT LEAST I KNOW ITS NOT SOMETHING IM DOING WRONG. MY 2 AND 6 PADS HAVE TO BE POUNDED AND A FEW OTHERS ARE JUST STIFF BUT IM LEARNING TO WORK AROUND IT. DOING A LOT MORE CHOPPING WITH MY RECYCYLE AND PLACING THE SAMPLES THAT WAY WHICH WORKS JUST FINE FOR ME TOO.

I thought I would add to the dead pad thread. Looks like I'm taking my 1k into VST this week to get some more pads repaired. My warranty ends in like 2 weeks. So I'm gettin it in there before it does, and then have to pay for this sh!t. My pads aren't dead meaning not triggering at all, but if hit them hard enough they do trigger. The funny thing is I've been using them w/ full level so long I couldn't tell. So yesterday i wanted to see which ones were going bad, and low and behold I found about 4 of them that would barely even trigger. So off it goes.
