turntable help

i wasnt sure where to post this question, but here it is. im getting a numark tt100 table for 90 bucks, but before i put down the money for it, what should i look for to make sure it all works fine. ive been recording for 6 years but im new to tables and dj gear.

If you want it just for sampling its fine. (You'll need a dj mixer though)

But for djing you'll want to look into a direct drive turntable though.

Go for the direct drive 1650 model on ebay for a little over $100.

i thought the tt100 was direct drive. from what ive been reading online it was saying that. and will i need the dj mixer because of the grounding issue thing? for the table, i wont really be djing, but i would like to be able to learn about scratching a bit, should i just go with the 1650 instead? thanks for the help and sorry for the questions if they seam silly.

check list:

1.)check to make sure the weight is on the back of the tone arm.
because this will cause the arm to fly upwards and not skate the record
and findin a weight for it wont be cheap or easy
2,)check to see that the tone arm is not loose
this will cause huming and nobeing able to proper balance for needle.
3.)check the wires to see if they work properlly/make sure there not loose either.
this will cause you to have multiple problems like not having both channels play or loss of soundand huming
4.)check to see if it's a cartridge that holds the needle or if it's a one piece
because if it's a cart you can replace the needle when it goes bad or put a differentcart on .also check the wires of the cart.
5.)check to hear if theres any hum while plugged in(if you can hook it up to a sound source.
if you can hookl it up to a mixer and you have it grounded and the needle is on tight and properlly and you get a humming sound then dont get it theres probally worse problems you'll have with it later and end up buyin anoth one soon,
