If the velocity is controlling the soft start does that mean you have to play the loop harder and softer to make it play different notes? I ain't in front of my mpc right now so I can't try your tip yet.

Nope...(well kind of...)
You use 16levels to control the velocity, so on pad A01 you'll get the end of the loop and on A16 you'll get the start..., get it?

PZ!

So will they play at different velocities. Like A01 will play softer than A16.

Correctamundoooooo!

............... :? That might only sound good with certain stuff. Maybe piano loops or guitar loops. Not really good for chopping regular samples with loads of instruments in them and stuff.

Well... just experiment, sometimes it's great cause you'll get chops yo never would've gotten otherwise...
Expect the unexpected....

Ive been chopping sample like this for a while..It is quick!!! For furthing editing of the velocity use the step edit and change the numbers of the vel!! this will get the sample a little more on the money! I know that when I chop this way..maybe one part may be off..I just go to the step mode and fix it there!

This Is a time saver when chopping and the sample cuts itslef off like in mono mode on the s950 or when you assign to the same out put on the SP1200

Actually this method is better because:

-you dont have to truncate but the sample if you want to.
-dont have to make multi copys of the sample to get each individual piece
-save on memory
-save on pad space
-once you are done with the chop in this mode just turn off the 16 levels,
and everything you seq with the chop, is there looping
-Speeds up the beat making process by 90 percent!!

I keep telling people the 60 has a lot of cool little secrets that it shows you over time. This is one of them.

Thanks for the tip. At first I thought it didn't make sense because of the velocity differences. But now I realize how you can make that work for you. You got my S1000 sittin' in the corner all lonely now.
