What's a disco edit?

disco edits are takin a disco track and findin real flavor parts of the song and lengthening them... basically findin a groove
sorta like breaks
back in the day they used the tape of the recording and spliced and recorded back and forth til they edited the song to how they wanted it to sound

Isn't that candy coated club hop? Not only is the title corny, but the whole sound has pop music written all over it.

I prefer that rugged ass Hiphop Reggae....so do you happen to have any older stuff like that??!!!

That right there is why I don't like the term reggaeton. The music is as vast and varied as hip-hop albeit not quite as deep in years. I been doing it since bacc in the day when it was called playero. The reggaeton that u hear on the radio (can't speak 4 the clubs b/c I don't know where yall frequent) is just as pop as the hip-hop u hear on the radio. U wouldn't want 2 judge all hip-hop based on just that, right?

The music has been underground since the mid 80s when it began in Panama from Spanish raperos (rappers) borrowing from US hip-hop and Jamaican dancehall. It didn't become popular in the US until certain artists made it their own and added the letras (lyrics) that glorified sex and violence like its hip-hop counterpart in the US. Only then did it gain the appeal with the masses here and abroad.

"Techno rap"

There's a term I have not heard before, but makes sense from my limited perspective. I hear stuff in commercial top 40 that I only used to hear in "underground" techno and house music ten years ago that died a slow horrible death some time ago. Now each time turn on the radio and hear a new tune, I keep thinking either that's where all those unemployed house music producers went or the existing producers are finding some really interesting and obscure samples.

i use a 60II to make rock type stuff. i do all the beats on it and program some of the synths on it.

I used the 60 for over 10 years for film score and advertising as well as jazz & pop....I just recently switched to the MPC 4000

yo! i heard one of the members from Le Tigre actually are on this site as a member. They are a electronic influenced indie/punk band. I dunno which member it is however I know they use an MPC60 in studio and live. Maybe he/she will post a reply....

Right onitt! my radio is fr the early 60's w tubes n' stuff. Thoose radio tunes of today sound all farout thru that unit. I really hv to crank it, to believe my ears, especially on tht "tekkno rap" thing going on!!

I do some glitchy hiphop music...
I use the MPC60 mkI for the basic hiphop sound, but connecting to my G4 laptop (using the 8 I/O directly) and processing it with this.

I'm produce some Illbient and noisy textures with 60mkI and a ms20, using the korg as a modular filter and the MPC for beating some noises.
