Do any of you know if there is a setting or function in any mpc that causes midi note to equal the same duration as the length as the sample when a midi note is triggered and recorded?

Thanks

right now, the only way i can think of is when you layer a program with a midichannel.. so that when you hit a pad, it also triggers the midi note

edit: on the 4k that is, i dont know if it's possible to layer programs with midichannels in any other mpc and play them in realtime..

If you mean a sample in an external sampler, no. what you want to do is set the volume envelope with a long release, or set the sample to oneshot mode or whatever.

there is no function like that in any mpc.

you'll have to manually hold the pad as long as the sample.

Sorry i should have specified, all internaly. I try to get away from one shot mode because i like to have the controll that midi gives me over individual durations of notes, but i get tired of having to hold pads down when i should be hitting the next pad. I guese i'll just have to make duplicate programs; one with one shot mode and the other without, and then switch between tracks for preference.

Any other solutions would be appreciated.
