Warped records

any one have any tips on how to flatten out warped records .

i.e its not flat. On one side its very easy to spin back but on the other side it places a lot of pressure on the platter. help....

I forgot who it was but this one producer said he brings his turntable out into the sun and just turns it on and lets the record spin in the heat and it eventually flattens out over time.

I don't have any records that are that warped so I have no techniques I use.

spectre man thats so not true , i have seen it from expirence man i went to see afriend play at cal state eastbay a fews years back and it was like 12noon and i saw him put some imports on the decks and they straight taco'd up man , I ADVISE NOONE TRY THIS, I DONT CARE WHO SAID TO DO IT BUT I SEE IT WITH MY OWN EYES!

anyways i just got this tip from some cat what he does is IRON the sleeve with the record init at low temp for a few sec's and then put a heavy book on it till it cools down and that might work he said he did it , but alot of people say try this and try that but theres never any fact to the story cause once you ask have you try'd it they always say NO! this guy said he did it ,

now i have tried this one and it work'd on one record buton another it didnt cause i tried to extend the time a bit and wrap'd it more so becarefull .what you do is take some glass and put the record in between the two pieces and set the oven on low and place the glass with record in the oven for about a min i would advise figuring out the time on a record you really dont care about first, then once you take it out place on flat surface and put some heavy bricks and let it cool down,

You know somethin...the hell is up with all the new records today being warped like that. The last few brand new peices of wax I've copped have been like that...and if you look at all the new hiphop I've bought in the last year..70% is bent.
Shit pisses me off, I can't juggle no bent records...
Does it have to do with the packing...or with the pressing...or with the vinyl material. 95% of my older vinyl is nice and flat...Whats the deal...

cheap vinyl they just want to move shizz fast so they use the cheap stuff. some times it may be the way they shelv them thin vinyl if it's not stand straight upit will warp in a few months and thicker vinyl it's not must of that problem but it will still happen just not as fats as thin.

I think Binger had a post about this but it was awhile ago.I know you take the record and put it in the oven for a few secs. Put it on a piece of glass and lay another on top.Let it sit and it'll straighten.Can't remember exactly how he did it though.

For that reason, I stopped buying records from places that don't let you open and play them.

One day, I bought 10 or so singles. 3 were warped, and one had shiny specks of something molded into the vinyl. The store took them back, but I've been opening and inspecting stuff ever since. This is a pain in the ass since I buy all my music on vinyl.

Take 2 sheets of window Pane glass you get from Home Depot or somewhere Cut to the size of and album cover etc. Place the record between the sheets of glass and let it sit out in the sun. The weight of the glass will keep the the record Flat, and since the vinyl will be soft, it won't try to Shrink up or get all squirrly and sh!t. Let it cool down before removing the "sandwiched" record. I read this along time ago.
This trick might work in the oven too but I would be very carful about it.

YEAH BUT THE THING IS HAVE you ever tried this or seen someone attemp this, i have tried and i now it works for me this other guy said he did it too, now i use to want to do that one BM for years i seen it in a do it yourself book the ones you see whilr standing in line at the grocery store,

iwas a young kid at 14 or so, but never got up to try it but now that i'm older and have someewhat more sence thaen i did when i was a kid i've wanted to try it, but bing bought up some other ideas and i head other
ideas but then again no one ever tried it so dont go on what other people say in less they have tried it or you know for a fact that it works ukno ? this is just my opinion cause i know the records flowers'd but if i can hold on to it long enuff there will be someone to come up with soome cure to warps ukno?
sometime in the summer i will have to try it, i'll keep you inform'd till then i have done the oven thing and yeah you just have to really watch your time so you dont fu'c up the record more than it is.

NO I have never tried it but i need to on a couple of records. I have done this though...I have a Parliament album that I bought Brand Spanking new when it came out...I had just got my drivers license and wanted to record it on a cassette to chill with this chick who LOVED parliament...Hard Core Jollies remember that one? WEll through the years of moving and abuse, it had a nice scratch it in that made it skip in the same spot each time. I took a cigarette lighter and heated the spot up till it got soft and let it cool...Record hasn't skipped a beat since. I got proof too I can take a picture of it and post if yall wanna see. You can see the small distortion in it when it goes around but if you closed your eyes when it plays you would never know it. Some of yall may have tried that trick.

theres one more way ! to use a hair dryier you heat the record up with a dryer and then bend it back to shape , but then again this is not a tried method so it's all on you if you want to tr it , i only try it if someone ahs done it and it works for them , in other words i need proof in less it's a guarnteed mwthod .
