Sequences and Songs

Hey you all thanks for all the tutorials and all the advice. I am a Flamenco and Spanish guitarist and I just bought the MPC 1000. I have a couple of questions that I really couldnt find in the tutorials or through searching. If it has been posted before please give me the search terms, i may be searching wrong..

1.Ok i understand how to turn sequences to songs, but can I start with a 2 bar loop on sequence1 per instance... Then copy and paste or copy that same loop to sequence2 so that I can add too it? I am trying to make a loop that I can keep but add some breaks after the initial loop is made (Im thinking to get a full drum track including breaks and solo i have to do this am I just looking at things wrong?). I have Pro Tools and I know I can do it in there but how about in the MPC is it practical? Or do I have to just play real time as many bars as I need including real time solo? (this seems wrong)

I started on the hardware side a little late and everything is so confusing. So any help would be appreciated. The tutorial on how to make beats is great! So is the How to make sequences into songs! But there is one missing in the middle I think, or I just probably missed it.

no, you can copy a sequence into itself. say you have a 2 bar sequence, and you want that to keep looping, you can go into seq edit. (mode+pad 13) that is also where you can copy to a new seq if you want. i understand you know how to put seqs into songs but did you know you can then convert that song back to 1 big seq to continue building? if not, take a look at my video (video link in my signature) and look at the video titled: Converting Seqs.

Maybe I didn't get the question right, but it is of course possible to copy bars of a sequence to another sequence, or even to copy all bars of a sequence to some other sequence.

ok, lets say that you have seq1 like you want it. and it's 4 bars. but now you want to build on it to make it longer. instead of truncating it to be 8 or 12 bars and playing out the rest of the seq manually, you can take the original 4 bars of seq 1 and copy it to make 8 or 12 bars in the same seq by going to "seq edit" (mode+pad13) or you can take that same 4 bars and copy it into seq2, seq3 to add variations of the first 4 bars, also by going to "seq edit". if you do make variations and different seqs, you can then arrange them in song mode. once in song mode and you have them arranged how you want them to be, then you can convert that song back into 1 big seq. and you can continue to build on that now big seq.

Ok what you need to focus on is making one seq-.

1. how long do u want the seq's to be 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 999 bars? yes you can in one sequence.

most hiphop is done in 8 bars/16beats/. So first thing is use the 2bars setup your drums,keys,etc.

Then once you've finished the seq's. Like sparq's said hit mode-pad 13/which is seq-edit mode.This brings you to copy edit page. hit highlighted
bar or F2 . you can then recopy what you've play in the first to bars or add to the bars already made.
now to do this,you have to cursor down to the right where it says Copies 1.
I usely turn this to 6 which adds to the 2bars making it 8bars, I can then edit that bar or copy it to another seq"s. try that first.

I'm thinking of a Rap verse two 8 bars=64beat
and yeah I know 8bars is 32beats. got ahead of myself
