Mpc and Mophatt

I know that this question has probably been asked a million times. I need to know if I'm doing this wrong. I have my mpc and my mophatt ran through my mixer and I can hear the sounds that I play from the keyboard but the mpc will not record them? What I'm I doing wrong and How do I fix it?

How will the MPC record them, unless you are sampling the sounds?

A little more detail about how you have everything hooked up will help us figure out where you're going wrong. Midi connections, MPC setup, Mo Phatt setup,etc.

Where you are falling short is your lack of a midi cable running from the MO phatt midi in which you would plug into the MPC Midi in A. Leave everything else set up the way you have it just add that midi cable and your back in business.

My set up is like this: I have two midi cables, the midi in of the mophatt connected to the midi out A of the mpc 2000. The Midi in 1 of the mpc to the midi out of the mophatt. I also have both of the devices ran through my mixer stereo L/R. I can hear the sounds when I play the keys, I can switch the mpc to midi and play the sounds on the key pads but what I want ot do is record the sequence that I play from the keyboard. What am I doing wrong?

Oh yeah one more thing you only need one of those midi plugs, which also could cause a problem. The only one that should be pluged in is the Midi in on the MO Phatt to the Midi out A on the MPC. The reason being that you only need one is because the Mo phatt has no means of being a controller. No keys or pads. You would use the out or thru only to link modules and share midi channels.

You would need the midi cable form the Mo out to the MPC in if you wanted to send sys ex data to the MPC, it shouldn't cause any problems being hooked up that way, that's how I have my P2000 setup.

I don't see any problem with how you have everything hooked up so I'll run down a simple step by step for how I do it:

Change DRUM1 to MIDI: 1A-Device-01> Make sure the Mo is in MULTI mode> select a patch in the Mo using the MPC(if you want to see the patch names as you scroll through them make sure midi ch 1 is displayed in the Mo)> play the pads to make sure the Mo is responding> hit and hold REC and press PLAY START> you should be able to record what ever you paly now. If this isn't working then you probably have something setup wrong in the Mo Phatt.

Tru dat, I didn't add that part about the other cable because I didn't think he was ready to to take extra steps without getting over that first one. You know what I can't remember and to be honest I don't feel like digging thru this foot locker to find out is what effect would not having that module's midi transmit set to on would have? Again it's been awhile since I've read my manual and my midi modes are all set to transmit to. Like I told Playa in a post I've hoioked it up to a 2000 before but that's been over 2 years ag0 and I can't remember if I had to make specific adjustments. I don't remember having to and doubt that I did and aside of the second midi cable and multi function we've both suggested the same thing.
