I've never had a problem with my Sandisk (Type I CF) card. Thats only 256MB, and getting full. I'm going to get the same card but larger (1 / 2GB) when I need to.

Any CF will work.....I just got the 2000XL-MCD as well and the manual is not going to have anything about the MCD drive.....when you open the box it will have a seperate piece of paper with the info on the machine's MCD drive....Akai probably didn't want to spend the money in printing up new manuals for only a page worth of material......hope the info helps

I don't think its worth having many small cards lying around. I have a 256MB which has been my main card so far, and a 32MB Memory Stick that I use for transfers, but I think the risk of a CF card failing is minimal (doesn't mean you shouldn't backup), so I'm just going to buy big cards from now. Not that I would need to be doing that very often. It would take me a .l o n g time to fill a 2GB card. For me, a 2GB card would go in my mpc and hardly ever come out, except for backing up. Like a small hard drive (which it is).
