mpc3000-> mpc4000 or is it a downgrade?

HEy iw as ponderin checkin out the mpc4k, i'm not sure though . right now i got the 3k, and i think it's great. but the display's goin and bein a pain in the ass.

i was thiknin it might be nice to have full envelopes. but i'm not sure if that's missing the point with all the extra shit on the 4k...

it's much bigger,no? how are the pads? how is the d/a and a/d converters? is it as enjoyable to work with?

or should i stick mpc3k?

i've owned every other mpc/sampling drum machine apart from the 4k, and i'm just super curious about that shit ...well oh yea, not the roland bullshit that shit's **** weak...

Depends on what you need it for.

Some would say going from a sedan to a minivan is a downgrade (young, single guy without kids)...others would say its an upgrade (family man with 4 children).

well what does the 3k excel at that the 4k does not?

punchy (louder outputs), 16 bit (vs 24 bit for the mpc4000, though you can select 16 bit in the 4K I believe), sequencer groove is looser (96 ppq vs 960), no USB.

Again, both are capable machines, depends more on what YOU personally are looking for in a machine, and what YOUR personal workflow is like. You could make the EXACT same beat on both machines if you wanted to, with different workflows and work styles.

think Dr. Dre/Shadow/DJ Quik (mpc3000) vs. Just Blaze (mpc4000).

wit the 96ppq vs 960 does it really make a differencE? don't most people keep timing correction on, would that really change it? wouldn't by using the timing correction teh ppq go significantly down?

the outputs arel ouder on the 3k eh? what bout signal to noise ratio?

have u used the 4000 or are u going by specs?

Yeah we don't usually do the buying advice thing anymore around here. It just gets too repetative and it's always subjective.

just go to a store and mess with the 4k, or search the archives for comparisons.
