drum patterns

what are some of the most used drum patters for genre
ok say for hip hop- [kick-kick-snare-kick-kick-snare]i would like people to break them down. like crunk-club-slowrap-fast rap-r&b-reggae[raggaeton] thank you in advance.

ps. the example is using a 1 bar sequence.Please post u guys in 2 bar sequences or more.and i use mpc1000 and reason as a sound module

I was actually thinking about this a WHILE back.

Where I'd post a kick snare chat and ohat 1 bar pattern using
bar beat tick locations/event/step edit so people can just follow along in and re-create what I did. But I never got around to it, very tedious though to post that.

That is your -kick-kick-snare-kick-kick-snare thing that you just described (going from memory - it might be a little messed up though).

That dont seem random to me.

I usually play like
Kick...Kick.kicksnare...kick...kicksnare...kick...kicksnare...kick..kick..snare..snare

Mine similar to all you guys also...

Just go with what sounds good for the beat.

when you double your kick do any u guys cut of the sustain on the first kick so u get a......kic kick.

have any of you tried figuring out a drum&bass pattern...would be challenging

its usually good to do custom drums for most samples, that way everything fits nice and tight

I just use the 16 levels to get that half kick sound...usually pad 9 and 16.

If you need drums done first, just lay a basic pattern (kicks on 001:01:01/001:03:01 snares on 001:02:01/001:04:01)and then change 'em up later. That will give you the VERY basic timing to at least nod your head to, and (90% of the time) those notes will stay there and you'll just add more.

BTW I noticed that a couple cats have drumbeats that you "usually use". Is there a benefit to doing that? I try to not use the same drum beats from song to song, as much as thats possible. Like FistFull said, I try to make my drums fit the song's mood/melodies. I never thought to use the same basic structures from song to song.

I think using the same rhythms comes from having a limited vocabulary so to speak. I know when I get locked into a kind of similarity I have to switch stuff up to break habits and come up with new shyt.
