i am enjoying my new 1000 but

damn I wish I could access all the edit features while the sequence was playing!!! seq edit, step edit, sample trim. u know, lay down a beat and then tweak placement of a snare while its playing. things would flow so much better. --uck all that effects timesrtetch fancy ish etc..

this is what i need the most! do you?

no wonder they call it 'programming' beats..i'm a musician not fu$%ing programmer! i want to fu$%ing jam and not stop the beat and calculate numbers. it wouldnt be that hard to implement in the os but maybe the processor couldn't handle it..

don't get me wrrong i don't take this tetchnology for granted i love it but i get pissed when product developers don't get their priorities straight (IMHO of course)

i think in this case you should buy a drumset.

you'll get over this, for sure...i came off software programming and that was more along the lines of what you're saying...and it's really not all that.

the yamaha RS7000 allows you to do this in grid recording mode. Maybe thats what you want.

You should return it and get your money back.

check out an elektron machinedrum, think that might do whatcha after

thx 4 the suggestions. i'm not really looking for another machine. the reason i posted was to see if others felt strongly that realtime editing was an important missing feature.

the fact that other machines such as machinedrum and rs7000 have realtime editing shows that it could be implemented easily with current technology.

what would be good also is realtime edit of swing or swing velocity like on the rs7000.. anyway i'll keep dreaming.

thats other companys technology, akai sticks to there own technology.

You should either step up to at least a 2500 or down to 3k cuz the other mpcs have realtime edit of swing. 4k can set after you play also. Little secret turn off the T/C and play as you like. All drum machines are programmed the step sequencer of the rs7000 and Drummachines both feature XOX style programming.

What you want to edit start and end points or Amp, Color, and pitch of your drums? Sequence placement counts, ear, and hit shouldn`t be to much. Just like recording to tape. Punch in and Punch out.

Yes you can if this is your first mpc you should be aware 1k is very basic in its current o.s. Check the other boards. I am a 4k user too.

Ive had mine for a week and i find nothing bad about mine, i havent mastered all the features yet and the OS 2.0 is already gonna come out soon. yessshhh

the 1000 is not my first mpc. while it may lack some (not many) of the features oof other mpcs it has other features that others don't. the 4000 is a whole different game though

i read over the manual and i don't see anything that mentions this. when i say realtime editing i don't mean likke you play a drum part and the mpc quantizes it as you play. i mean like after you've recorded it you can adjust timing parameters and hear the change w/o stopping the sequence.

it def. doesn't have realtime swing change-- you have to stop the sequence to chqanhe swing%

it has grid edit and you can change the TC while the seq is playing. not sure about the "tweak placement", check it out.
