Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i'm over a friends house who has an mpc2kXL, and iwas just messing with it.. sampling, drums, melodies...

while i'm trimming a drum deleting unwanted space, i like to audition the samples with the pads, but i've gotta problem with a sample randomnly repeating itself after i punch a once.

example:hi hat..

one press on pad: hi.hat.
second press on pad:hi hat, hi hat, hi hat,,
third press: hi hat, hi hat..

sometimes it'll play just once like normal, then it often starts to repeat itself randomly.. funny thing is, taht only happens when i tap the pad softly. if i tap it hard, it will play normal

my friend hasnt had the mpc long. amd he doesnt know whats wrong..

please help me, hope its not defective he gotta used..

if that explanation was too vague i'd be more than happy to record a sample of it..

there is nothing wron wit ur pads
u have to get used to playing them. the mpc is an instrument, just like a guitar or a piano or a drum--you have to learn how to use it correctly

u see, that doesnt happen with my mpc 1000.

notice how u herd multiple takes of a drum, and i only pressed the pad just "1 time" and it starts wile'n out..

that could be related to the fact that the pads in your mpc1000 are differently constructed, thatn the pads in the mpc2k(xl). Like issues said you have to get used to playing mpc.

the pads are fine in all, but it jus seemss kinda odd that a if i tap a pad drum jus once the drum plays more than one time.. and if i tap it again it plays just fine.. and i am not pressing it more than once i am familiar with the pads on mpcs.

He just told u that u got to get used to the pads. That happend to everyone when they first started banging on the mpc

i vouch for this... i've had my XL for not even two months and i no longer make double-hits anymore, but i did at first. the pads have some bounce, almost like a real snare drum.

and most of the time you only notice the double-tap with full level because the extra tap doesn't have any velocity.

and it's a breeze to clean any mistake up in the step-edit.
