Akai Japan Website

Today is the day Akai Japan is suppose to update their website. Will there be any goodies posted (info, updates, etc)?

That would be tomorrow (16th) check my sign. Although if they do it in the morning (Japanese time) folks in the US will be able to see it tonight
I'm curious what the site will be like. We all hope for some nice OS updates, but i have the feeling Akai JP (Pro Audio) has turned into than an average distributor...

I lived in Japan for 14 years...I know what time it is there It is the 16th in Japan. Yes..it is more likely to be up later this evening here in the USA (which is still today )

As fas as Pro Audio...as long as they continue to provide the same service as Akai Japan..they will be more than an average distributor. Akai Japan has always provided me top-notch services. Anyone doing business with them should be able to vouch for this.

USA counterparts....from what I hear (not personal experience) doesn't do as well.

It's clear things have changed over there, why did they change the domain name...
Did you contact Akai Japan by email recently about bugs. Do they still respond to the old akaipro address?

I believe I read a post in these forums that there was a fire at the Akai Japan Headquarters which destroyed the websites servers..or something like that. I have no idea if this is the truth or if it has any bearing on the domain change.

As of late, I have only had communication with Akai USA regarding bugs/issues with the MPC 2500. Hopefully somthing will be released tonight or later this week with NAMM going on.

I still have a gut feeling about the MPC 1000's OS 2.0 which is date Nov 05. At that time, there were several new bugs being reported for the MPC 2500s OS (which is practically identical as the 1000). Since the one or two people in these forums that have this new MPC 1000 OS and basically remaining quiet..not reporting any bugs (which I find hard to believe)...I really do feel that there are some issues with that OS as well

Yeah Sparq wrote about that fire but he later corrected it had nothing to do with the domain change.
But even if the site was on their own servers it wouldn't have been necessary to get a new domain name altogether.
Did you also read that info about Akai Japan filing for bankruptcy?
Typical Jack O'Donnell way of scaling down a business to make it more profitable.

I agree about the possibility of 2.0 having similar bugs as the 2500.
It's ironic, after all the 1k forum has been gone through for the last two months we gonna receive an OS that's probably gonna need work...
I can vision all the HELP! HELP! threads already.
Maybe our only two midi-outs stop working properly (in true 2500 style)

There is so much stuff..some true and some not..about goings going under.

The things about Akai have been going on for quite some time. But there were/is several companies bearing the Akai name..Akai Professional..Akai Digital..and another which I can't think of which is the one that is bankrupt, I believe. The cat that owns the Alesis and Numark brands (from what is in these threads as well as info I received for VST Service) now owns Akai. Actually, I stopped caring along time ago because it doesn't put any money in or take moeny out of my pockets. As long as I get a fully functional MPC..I don't care if Hyundai makes them.

Companies restructuring and being bought by other companies is nothing new. Steinberg is now owned by Yamaha. Emu and Ensoniq combined a long time ago. Apple acquired the company that made Logic. So and so forth. Going way back...Roger Linn was in the slumps and started working for Akai....the very reason why we have MPCs today. Of course he is doing his own thing now.

Even though the latest Operating System of the 2500 needs more work..it is more superior than tha Roger Linn Operating Systems of the 3000/60

So pretty much the 1000 will get theirs by the end of the week and us 2500 people will be shyyytted on huh.........

Namm is this week so it will be a good time to release both Operating Systems if they are indeed ready......All this hype about an OS that probably isn't finished yet. I want a error free operating system eventually..but I will be cracking jokes if that MPC 1000 OS2.0 drops and have some of the same issues with the 2500. Yup..I will have plenty of fun

Jahrome what kind of speakers you got?

I am using the original Yamaha MSP10 powered monitors....But I am about to copp those Mackies..
