synching the 2500 with the triton extreme

i just got the 2500 this week I know next to nothing about an MP, but am pleased to say, I will never tell anyone I i use fruity loops again. Not only did i pick up the MP but I had to get the triton extreme too.

now mind you I have everything hooked up to the point where I can hear sound from my mp

coming through my emu 1820 m

and i can hear sound from the triton

my man was in the studio and he had his mpc 4000 hooked up to his triton extreme.

what it appeared he was doing was, playing from the triton, but having the mpc sequence the midi data he was playing

I copped an MP primarily to do this can someone please help me out.


MY MPC 2500 MIDI config is as follows:
active track recieve channel: all
soft thru: as track
sequence change by program change: off
pad to internal sound: on

i can start and stop the sequencer on the triton extreme
(i switched the MIDI clock to external and disabled local control )

(this was with local control on)
but it seems my data is coming out "regular" (the mp isn't sequencing it)

When i select local control off I don't hear the triton extreme just the mp

MY man was listening to both at the same time

also i noticed the 2500 doesn't have sempte would that have something to do with my problem

read page 52 on the quick start manual carefully.

I got the same setup as you and I got the tritons local control "On"

Every setting on thre triton is pretty much the way it is when I bought it. The default settings will work

my mp is setup like this exactly like yours, know that the local control can be on with the triton, I think thats your problem

I also own a 2500 and a Triton Extreme. I really didn't have to do anything special. I use the MPC for ALL sequencing, which means I don't use the Triton's sequencer at all. So there was no real "syncing" that had to be done. All I did was hook the Triton to the MPC via MIDI, and then I choose the instruments on the Triton, assign them to a track, then hit record on the MPC, and play the Triton. In the Triton's Global menu, I turned "Local Control" OFF.

my problem was I didn't read the manuals I just started hookin sh@t up, and bangin away. I almost copped the 4000 but then i referred to the quick start manual an eything was cool.

I have one other question as fas as sequencing goes is the sequencer on the 4000 better bcuz, the 2500's sequencer imho is kinda stiff?

I prefer the 2500's sequencer because it has Grid Edit mode.
