Of course i don't (hence the smiley) but apparently Akai does cause they seem to wait for that.

why do you think that is? the more i think about this the more confused i am. roland has a new product to show at namm (sp404 which is waiting for me at school, i'll have mine in my hands when i move back later today). akai just has the revamped 1000 - and their new 2500, which is gonna steal a lot of thunder from the 1000bk unless they market very very very carefully.

here's my question

do you think they'll be able to market it as well as we theorize they hope to based on a software upgrade? people are shallow. they'll see the same machine and recall reviews they read where kids are like

"Yooo!!!!1 mah cuzin raps and ah make beets for hims'. da mpc10000 suckz bcuz it don't have timestrech!!!!!111 pluzzz it don't make mah beets sound good!!!1"

hence why "os version II" is already a large part in akai japan's advertisements of the mpc1000bk. every time you see "bk" you'll also see "v2," (so as long as the ad is placed by akai - we're not talking about what we see on zzounds, etc) mark my words. it's the only way they'll be able to make ANY kind of profit off the 1000 anymore.

esp because the 1000 is no longer the recent model so it doesn't have the flair of being "akai's newest sampler." that goes to the 2500 now...so kids will hold out for that unless they truly can't afford it or truly do their research and discover that for their situation, they don't need the 2500.

which, in MOST cases with today's new wave of computer based producers is the case. likewise with the older record based producers, and people like me - who take both to some kind of perverted extreme.

the 2500 is most suited to module users and people who have a lot of other hardware. it's even more of a central nervous system than the 1k, which is MUCH more suited to programs like reason where you can host multiple synths using one midi out.

honestly, i think the 1k is a more cost effective, wise purchase for MOST of the kids out there who are a, getting into producing, b, getting out of pc producing, or c, upgrading from older akai models. the 2500 is, to me, the new 4000 - meant for high powered studios.

mpc2500, the 2000 killer? no. as of now, i rank it higher than the 2000 models. if anything, the 1000 is a 2000 killer, after this os.

i know i'm ranging on many topics here but i'm both amped on caffeine and also it all ties together - i'm a samplist and i know my tools. from reading these forums i have learned a lot about akai's products - enough knowledge that it really takes time and effort to glean it all. for this reason, i know that the mpc1000bk is a pretty damn smart buy.

my question is, how will akai make it obvious to the average consumer who hasn't read as much as i have that the bk is a smart move? can they?

What do you mean "deadline"?
2.0 was finished November 14th of last year.
Akai US expects everyone at NAMM to be exited about their little update....

Who said it was finished

I think the 2.0 OS will be more like 2.03 once you everyone gets their hands on it :D

Unless there are a serious overhaul of the Akai brand...I doubt anything will be released in the USA antime soon. It is still manufactured/programmed in Asia from what I hear.

I ask myself something people, if it´s true that some members already have Os 1.999499999991568484199 (or else) why won´t they post it ...
OS 2 is already compiled no one needs to keep this beta in private...

I think akai released the 1.99blah blah blah version to a select few people outside of the company (like Sparq), in the hopes that they tell people that it's coming, and then release the BK to get new customers (or, at a push, to get some Blue owners to sell their MPCs and buy the BK), and THEN once their sales figures for the BK are satisfactory, release a 2.5 version, with added functionality, which no-one outside of the company (even you Sparq!) saw coming/knew about!

well maybe, anyway.

/conspiracy theory. :D

For the suspense, people, the suspense, controversy sells products! i guess Jack O'Donell wanted to be a film director when he was a kid!

Ok so i know there aren't that many people that read this forum, so.....

this is the same idea pillage posted in the other post

and i have to say again, the gain would not indicate this. the number of 1k owners who upgrade is not significant enough to suggest this.

ok and also, if akai told sparq to let people know that it is coming, wouldn't FEWED blue owners sell and instead wait? what if sparq never told us and suddenly the 2500 dropped? bingo, 1000 owners would buy the 2500. then os 2 would come out, revamping the 1k.[/quote]

we are talking 2.0, not 2.03 or whatever. You have to much confidence in Akai, it's gonna take another 6 months for them to get those bugs out.
