a question about the neptunes

where do they get there authentic guitar sounds, like in "like i love you" and"pass the courvoursier" do they use a particular keyboard or do they use real guitars, and wat keyboard can give me the best authentic guitar sounds...thanks

I don't work with the Neptunes myself, so I can't say for sure, but a lot of bigger named producers hire studio musicians to play live instruments.

Chad plays guitar. So if they needed a guitar part he would probably just grab a guitar and record one.

Maybe a REAL guitar if you want AUTHENTIC..

In the 7/05 issue of sound on sound, there is an interview with Andrew Coleman who is the chief engineer for the neptunes. It mentions that the neptunes call on him often to play guitar parts that they use as loops. The magazine specifically mentions the Papa Roach track the neptunes produced for the film Biker Boys. Never heard the track though.

If you want authentic, your best bet would be talking to me. Ya know?




Sorry. That was lame. I'd say play the guitar dude, or get someone to play the guitar. Record a melody, or even some single notes and just use those to make a melody on a sequencer or computer.

yup, on that neptunes studio video, you see chad walk by with a guitar and he sat in the back playing the acoustic guitar.

I read a lot of their early stuff like Lapdance was made with guitars on a keyboard but then replayed with real guitars because it of course added a lot more life, and basically just sounded better
