Definitely! Sample all your music into the 950 and take full advantage of the dope ass Loop function and same channel (mono) pad interruption.
I wish Akai made a S950.mpc-60 combo sampling workstation....that'd be heaven!

I fell in love with my S950 after about an hour of playin with it and had to cop a 900 a just to get even nastier. Sometimes I just use the 60 for the whole beat or I'll do drums on the 900 and music on the 950 or even drums in the 60 music on the 50 and a multisamples on the 900 of some 12bit rhodes, piano, flute, synth or whatever. I really dig making multisampled programs which is something I didn't even know about before I got the 950. Sometimes I 'll do it for like 2 hours just making instrument program disks!

I'll ask the silly question: don't all the machines s900, s950 and MPC60 sound exactly the same?

For the moment I don't think the S950 and 60 sound that similar (the 60 might sound a bit more metallic), although in the same vein.
I compared the same drum break and had different results, but I did this at different times, with possibly different gain settings, even a different cable (and maybe different cartridge)..
actually to really compare what would be the 950 bandwidth for a sample rate equivalent to the fixed one on the 60 ? I'd like to try that

BW=16000 for both the S950 and S900 to sample
at the MPC60's 40kHz.
at the MPC60's 40kHz.

This is going to be a stupid question but im wondering why i always hear about the 60 coupled with the s950. Is the only reason that this combination is favoured because of the 12 bit resolution?
What about a 3000xl and a 60? Why is that less favored than the latter?
Jus' something i need to clear up...
Thanks

It's not that deep man. A 3KXL would be a dope combo. I like the S9s cause their cheap and I can do what I need to do with em. They're very easy to use and to me they just sound right with the 60.

Yeah it sounds no different and the OS is about 85% the same as the 950. For what most cats are doing with the 950 they can do all the same in the 900. The memory is really not an issue if you sample right.

yeah I was breaking it down and at 3000 Hz you still get over a minute sampling time with the stock 950

hmmm, yeah the filter is okay...i mean its nice to have a filter but it didn't blow me away....it sounds nice but it i guess the truth is i didnt want new gear to slow me down w/ the 60..as long as i have the 60 itll be hard for me to break away(hence me comments of sp12t and eps)if i sold the 60 or lent it out id be forced to learn the new gear....i dont think im a multiple module personality...i want just one rack at time.and im thinkin eps or asr since ive got the 60 allready...ill probably get anohter 950 down the road but not right now. 950s are cheap these days...i dont know what this all means to you but id like to hear some new 950 beats...
peace.
peace.

To each his own. We must have different ears, though, cuz I have a 950 (matter of fact, YOUR 950!) right here, and its buzzing like a muthaphukker. It bumps real hard.
Didnt you say your monitors were broken? Maybe thats why you couldnt appreciate it.
