With your attitude and the ability to fall hook line and sinker for any excuse someone tries to sell you, I wish you luck.

If you bought a car and the steering wheel fell off who would you blame?

... probably the company that made the car, right? It's _their_ responsibility to deliver a product where all the parts work.

I can't even believe they are using this slimy tactic to try to pass the buck... people like you are just encouraging them.

if my steering wheel fell off, i would call the company and take my car back to the dealer. if they didn't do **** about it, I would pay to get it taken of, not sit and cry about it. you got to take some action in life, dude.

And, you would probably tell your friends that Ford or whoever has sh**ty customer service, and to buy from someone else

Riiiiiight....?

of course.

I hate akai because they dont give me mpcs' for a penny.
Isnt that **** up? They really need to fix that. Because god, if it was any more than a penny i'd expect them to come to my door to fix whatever problems i have with my mpc, then they would lick my freshley shaved sack.

if you buy the bottom line (mpc 1000), don't expect the quality of a mpc 4000. you get what you pay for. period.

should of spent the money to be happy.

Quite an interesting read this post, I like the fact that cartain people are saying that they pretty much "expect to get stiffed by AKAI" and "don't really mind it", infact they don't even bat an eyelid.

If "for example" I bought a TV and at point of sale was told that over time and with various firmware updates the picture, sound etc would get better and better, then all of a sudden after the latest update the screen went dead, I would initially be a little peed off!

If I then saw a message like AKAI have posted on their website, for instance saying "the T.V you bought has a screen and speakers in it that arn't supported by our firmware, please go and buy these components from somewhere and fix it yourself" I would be seeing red about now.

Ok, granted, you can roll back the firmware but why do you have to lose out on the added features (via firmware updates) sold to you in the first place because of a manufacturing error that has nothing to do with you?

Also what AKAI's statement doesn't address is whether future firmware updates will work, so for all DPS24 owners know, they could be stuck on the previous firmware update for the rest of that machines life.

My personal opinion for what its worth is that AKAI is in hot water with this one. If I were an owner of that said machine and read their poor statement, right about now I would be asking them to replace the Hard Drive themselves and send the one that doesn't work back to seagate and take the issue up with them.

To try and fob a manufacturing problem on to the consumer is a poor show and will certainly make me think carefully about purchasing future AKAI products.

P.S (will get off my soap box now) :) lol

wrong again shiithead, any good buisness owner knows its the other way around. theres a lot of products out there. akai is in competition with other manufacturers for OUR business. akai needs us. they arent the only ones that make samplers/sequencers. so go blow it out your ass

You always speak like you have a slight clue about business.
If you know so much, why don't you go make a company that produces samplers that are better than akai's?
Until you can do better.
KINDLY
SHUT THE **** UP

Akai is not the middleman in this case, they sold the product with the HD and are therefore responsible. Those DPS24s will have more components made by other manufacturers, if any of these fail (within warranty) Akai should fix them.
Ironically Akai is complaining about SeaGate changing the firmware without alerting them... We all know how comunicative Akai is about details of their own updates.
Why does the SeaGate work under 1.5 but not under 1.6? Seems like they should write a new OS themselves.

Totally agree, my sentiments exactly.

Bottom line, they made it, they fix it!

It was a self imposed mistake by AKAI not the consumer, why should the consumer suffer?

It has been made redundant, akai shouldn't have to do anything.

You buy a soundcard/harddisk/cddrive/whatever, upgrade to another OS, and it becomes redundant, you can either sit their boo-hissing and waiting for akai to give you the finger as any other company would, or pay 50$ and quit bitching.
It sucks, but that is the way that it is.

akai didn't make the mistake.
It worked when they sold it, now they're providing a FREE update, and the hard disk has been made redundant. You have to make a slight upgrade to benefit, or suck shit and use the older OS. tough shit.

Learn to love technology.

What i read from the statement is that they recently sold it with 1.6 and the SeaGate.
That's not the same as getting a new OS one year later and making the old drive not compatible (which i still think would suck).
In this case you get it dysfunctional straight out the box, and Akai tells you you're on your own.
