Creating songs using 1 Sequence

Is it possible to make songs ON THE 2500 by using the tracks in 1 sequence only?


For example

I make a beat using sequence 1

and i put everything in there (kicks,snares,keys etc.)

rather than creating 5 different sequences for 1 song.

this has been kickin me in the pants bcuz i am trying my hardest to have a simple workflow.

see that's the beauty of song mode and the "convert feature" the easiest way to do that is make your different seqs (say like 3 or 4) then arrange it in song mode then convert back to 1 seq, then you can just build the rest of the song in that 1 seq.

I figured that's how it was gonna be. By the way good lookin on the videos for the MPC 1000 upgrades, they helped for the 2500.

I have another question i'd figure i'd sneak in. Is there any way to mute the individual pads rather than the track, this would help for mixing purposes

not a problem....

do you currently have a 2500? if you do, in the manual, look on page 86 but to answer your question, yes it is possible.

You know what I noticed? when i arrange the sequneces in song mode and it switches to the next sequence, My triton extreme frogets the patches i was using and chooses some bullsh@t. Is there any way I can stop this behavior?

my mpc 2500 is the MIDI master
The Triton extreme is the Slave

any suggestions?

I was hopin you'd jump in on this one, i'm having a lil issue with the program changes. I've been reading the voice name list that came wit the triton,trying to identify the programs so i can use the appropriate number.

how can i find out
the numbers for the programs i'd like to use?

hey u can also do this...start the program u record to ...if u use software.start recording and then just mute which sounds u don't want for the intro.and then just bring them in.just gotta count say 16 bars for verse,4 for the chorus or however u wanna do it..this way u can change the beat a little quicker by say dropping hi hats[thats why i put hi hats on a different track]this is just how i did it before.just recorded it live...plus i like being able to mute drums for 1 bar and just have them smash back in. hope i helped

I was havin the same problem with my 2500 and proteus 2000

to prevent it from messing ur programs up when converting a song u have to keep each diff. pgm on the same track in each seq

I have the problem b4 I even convert the songs, and when is the diff.pgm file created?

You can also use a software recording program. Just record your 8 bar loops (or however long they are) in your one sequence into your recording program, one track at time, then lay out your song the way you want. I prefer this method the best, because if I later realize I want to rearrange a part, I can just load up the song in Sonar and change it, without having to boot up my sequence on the MPC and rerecord the b*tch.

there is no diff.pgm

what he was trying to tell u is that u need to keep the pgm params the same on every sequence

for instance

sequence01 -
drums on track 1
sanre on track 2
midi synth on track 3
midi wahtever on track 4

keep these hypothetical settings on every sequence. basically, keep your midi channels the exact same on every sequence. u get wat im sayin?

funny thing is that's the same paramter guide that came with the triton that I still haven't TOUCHED.

I know exactly what u are talkin about I have everything setup like that already. The thing is it's like the machine has a mind of it's own

It changes the programs when i'm doing things like changing the tempo . After I press do it. The bars might be changed but sometimes the sound will be a different one from the one i selected. It's more of an annoyance than anything.

I see what happens now

I'm makin a joint right now

got like 5 sequences goin

I'm layerin a midi pattern

I'm in the main window

I press mode then song (to get into song mode) and it changes the sound that i'm playing how do I stop this from happening?
