Can the 1000 with O.S. 2.1 do?

Waveform editing? I mean can you visually see the sample your chopping? I'm thinkin about gettin one and I always worked with a 2000xl but they uped the price like $500 just for a $75 mcd. So I'm leaning twards the 1000 thanks.
