It's used in mostly Soul sampled songs... Slow the tempo down and up the pitch, which gives it that effect. but you can timestretch anything.

...or alchemist. Pretty much what Acid does except Acid can do dynamic timestretches. It can change the bpm with or without affecting the pitch as you so desire. Anyone try timestretching on the MV 8000?

i never tried timestretching on acid....what other software can i time stretch with?...the 2kxl has a timestretch feature righ=? what alchemist beat did he use timestretch on?

2000xl has timestretch yes.
and the alchemist question. I know he mainly samples from old spainish records and what not, Id bet money that he pitches/stretches 80% of those samples

That's one of the reasons the MPC-1000 is cheaper. That song "DJ KAY SLAY SH*T" had a times-stretched sample of Ednita Nazario - a Spanish pop artist. Alchemist sped up the piano loop. Another good example is the song Black People, Puerto Rico by Frankie Cutlass. Cypress Hill timestretched the same sample for IV but made it into a slower BPM.

Although different presets yield different results sound wise the purpose of timestretch is to aid the user in making a sample fit into a certain bpm range. Wether fast or slow!

I can't stand havin' ta stretch with da effect supplied. Everybody now iz using otha equiptment dat do it without soundin lyke it went through a digital delay machine & shyt. Marley Marl now juz uses hiz Pioneer 1100 to timestretch & dem samplez be soundin' lyke he found anotha group he did da same song but slower.
