Well, if you check the MPC 1000 2.10 OS update that was released today, they fix a bug where the MPC 1000 was automatically sending out program change #0 even if the sequence was completely blank.

So to see if the 2500 is doing the same, you might want to hook it up to a Midi Monitor like Midi-OX on the PC and see if the 2500 is sending any data, when it shouldn't be...
