Soft Synths?

Does anyone here mess with Soft Synths at all?

I use the MPC 2Kxl and I have got a MIDI controller keyboard...I am just wondering if I could maybe use a Soft Synth to add a little something to my beats...

Ive never messed with em before and I am wondering how they work and if they are any good...

nobody here seems to be very keen on softsynths, the mpc itself is an antites against computers itself, while most plp here tend to have computers after all, since they get msg up to this forum,

I myself rarely uses any either, but i reccomended one, in "enviroment", but no responce and vague intresse, however its the best 303 emulator, that has got a facelift, its dem was v nice sounding...

i got absynth but havent used it yet....i heard its crazy, and was used for the matrix reloaded!

softsynths are pretty much all I use now, Absynth is real coo....

how do you use it with your MPC?

I assume the only way is to sync it up with a sequencer like Cubase or Acid or whatever....is that right?

if the soft synth is a stand alone app then it's just a matter of setting up the midi devices, it works just like sound module would. If the soft synth isnt stand alone then a host app such as chainer or any of the popular DAW's will work...

I use my MPC as a trigger for my Proteus LE soft synth. I don't use the Proteus too much, but I just bought the MoPhatt and Earth soundsets, so I'll probably use it more.

I open up the Proteus as a soft synth in Sonar and sync my MPC to my Tascam's MIDI ports and VOILA!!

There's a couple of sick ass MOOG VST synths. I'd almost go so far as too say they sound as good as the real deal. They're the "Autria Moog Modular" and the "Mercury-Minimoog". PM me if you want to "know more" Both have some real nice bass presets and pads.

yea i been lookin' for some awesome soft synths but i don't really know any....also ive never used a MPC at all.....anybody tell me what they think tha best one is of best ones? holla!

They're F A T yes, my prblm with softsynths is the cpu, or my tiny 1.33 mhz g4. It cant take anything but i dont care just use it as an recorder..
about the mpc, i can only recommend the 3000, its the only one for me.

Too overhaule the cpu probs, i'm really looking into this roland varios, its has been around for some years now and dropped some in price...still sounds stunning too.

I use soft synths almost exclusively. i put some of my rough mixed joints online that were made with them. i really like all the synthesis possibilites you can get out them.

How do you all deal with the delay in response to soft synths?

I just got the Minimoog soft synth off Angus and I noticed there is a bit of a delay in the response from when I press the keyboard to when it actually plays the sound.... I've got the latency set to 4ms and I still have a delay....would I be better off using a MIDI cable as oposed to the USB?

absynth and the FM7 is really good as the synthesis is digtal to begin with.
there's no real digital cure for analoges but the softARP2600 is a nice allrounder to make bass and drums and the OSCar was pretty good to.
not like the real ones.. but still OK
or..... you could forget the soft business and get one of these

I really like the Korg Legacy Collection. It's worth the price.
