1st off, i'm new here. great site, very very useful!

ok, all the pics ive seen of the 1000, show a 64MB card sticking out the front of it.?
now i got the 2000xl, and have 32mb internal,
so, the 1000 has 16mb internal standard? and this can be upgragded to 128>? and as its flash memory, your samples stay in there once its been switched off?

but... what is the card sticking out the front? cos no one seems to mention sixty60 four4!!!!! 64!! i'm a little confused about this as i wanna cop one, but whats the deal with the 64 card STICKIN OUT THE FRONT OF THE SEXY LITTLE MUTHA!

so you got a 32mb flash card for the front, so you can store 32mb on that, which you load samples from that card, into the 16mb standard inernal memory?

also, how much are flash cards???

your replies are very very helpful i appreciate it...

Im not 100% sure since i dont personally own a 1000, but from what i understand the Flash card is basically like tha disc drive in the mpc2kxl..it can be used to tramsfer, save samples to and from your 1000...but u dont really need it beacuse u can hook it up via USB to your computer..and jus drag and drop the files....now thats HOT!!!

yeah i feel u dog..im dyin for one too...the only drawback is that it has no timestrech, sample reverse and i heard that pads are a little smaller...and of course u need 2 drop an extra $100 to cop tha 128mb ram upgrade...but other than that its deffinatley a hot piece,...and the things its missing can easly be done with computer based programs like acid, soundforge and fruityloops...

true on the reverse thing, main reason i want one is so i can still make tunes traveling , the 1000 a portable minidsic and my lil yamaha su10 battery powered sampler that reverses! is the size of a video tape. pure dope! gotsta get saving, gotsta get saving......+

I'm no pro here, but have read nearly every post on the 1000 boards and I think some of these posts are wrong.

That's not right. The MPC1000 acts as a slave USB device. In other words, your PC sees the MPC (w/ CF card installed) as a CF card reader and utilizes it to store data...i.e. *.wav files. No card=no storing $hit. Secondly, USB cord attached....the MPC's don't seem to want to operate.

Back to the RAM vs. CF. Your computer you are reading this on has a couple different types of memory. One is RAM and another is a storage type of memory called a hard drive. RAM as I understand it is the area/ or resource of a PC (or MPC in this example) that is available to perform tasks. Opening windows, sampling, having something stored while doing something else...rememberring. That's why guys upgrade their ram and think their computers are that much faster. The processors just have more capacity to utilize.

A CF card is simply storage and is not accessed while a computer is looking for spare brain power to perform a task.

I'm not sure if I cleared anything up here or muddied the waters more.

I welcome any replies.

peace,
fisch

basically you just cant drag and drop from the memory. You can only drag and drop from the whats on the CompactFlash Card. The only way stuff will get on the CF Card is if you save it to that card.
