IM ABOUT 2 PURCHASE AND MPC 1000 OR 2000XL...(STILL UNDECIDED)
BUT MY QUESTION IS...
1.WHAT SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE WILL I NEED TO RECORD MY BEATS OF THE MPC TO CD?
2.WHAT TYPE OF CABLES WILL I NEED TO HOOK UP MY MPC TO MY HOME STEREO (WITH RCA INPUTS) SINCE THATS ALL I HAVE AT THE TIME...

get some studio monitors first of all for your sounds dont use your home theather it will sound like shit

but i would grab cubase, some monitors

You really dont need to get any software. If I were you, I would by a small multitrack recorder like the Fostex MR-8 and record the beat into there. And then from there you can transfer the beat to your computer through USB as a wave file. But if you want something to record into the computer , i recommend a Protools system(Digi001, 002, mbox). Ive had digi001 and an Mbox and they both are great but your computer kinda has to be "up-to-date" for them.

I would recommend the following:

-Yamaha AW-16g recorder

Period.

With an MPC and this recorder (which also has a burner) you can do EVERYTHING you need to do, don't worry.

You could do it with just MPC1000 and some kind of two track recorder, if you wanna go really low key. A good two track is the Alesis Masterlink, but it's pricey ($900), I did it for years with an Ensoniq EPS-16+ and a cheap Sony tape recorder. Or you could buy a G3 iBook new for the same price and look at porn, which is always a bonus!

since you are on a budget. just get a computer program like cubase or nuendo and you are set. all you need

monitor
PC with souncard and cubase xs or nuendo.

cubase will do anything thoes multitrack recorders will do, even more.

But there is no one way to go with it. you can get a multitrack recorder too, aint nothing wrong with that either. But im thinking cost too

well i already hav emost of the nessasary audio programs like soundforge,reason,fruity studio and cubase....so i guess all ill need is monitors and a mixer....but i think ill be aiight without the monitors for a while..i can jus use my headphones..untill i get good

if you have cubase and you are a master with it then all you need is a monitor and a mixer. Cubase is a workstation on its own. If you have cubase sx then buddy, thats a studio there. At the end you'll probably need a midi keyboard and use all the VST that cubase carries.

Not to point you out Deez but to use the word budget and Nuendo dont go together like two dicks and no bytch. Nuendo is 1200 dollar multitrack program( i should know cause i have it) Now i would say look at a good good 200-300 sound card and also pick up a copy a Cool Edit Pro i think that all wil cost you about 500-600 dollars thats half the price of nuendo and the same price of cubase sx and now all you need is a mixer. Right now mackie has a good 4 channel mixer for 100 dollars its called the TAPCO. so all together thats a good package for 700 dollars. The Truth monitors are now on sale for 299...pretty good monitors for the the price...so all together cool edit/mackie tapco/200-300 sound card/truth monitors should only cost you about 900-1000 dollars.

true talk, thanks. cubase and nuendo are expensive. but dutchmaster already said he has soundforge and cubse. so he has nothing to worry about. I actually got my cubse free and it works fine. I got cool edit 2 for free.


I prefer programing everything on mpc then bumb it on cubase for mixing.

yeah..i DONT pay for my software...i already got the full versions of CUBASE,REASON,SOUNDFORGE,COOLEDIT PRO,FRUITY STUDIO and CAKE WALK...and MAD VST SYTHS..etc...i just need a good soundcard,mixer and monitors and i should be strait..

ok since you have all the software you could ever need i would say look at getting a sound card with as many ins and outs as you can...also look at something firewire. right now i think motu has some good ones.
