Yes... the definition of chromatic is half-step increments. A chromatic scale is all half steps as opposed to a major scale which goes like this:
Whole step,Whole step, Half Step, Whole step, Whole step, Whole Step, Half Step.
You can start on any note and apply this formula and you will have a MAJOR scale. There are a number of different formulas/scales such as minor, minor7, etc. etc. They all have basic formulas similar to the 1 above.
