Dittos on the reverb (Use a crisp snare sample) Try for a concrete garage room sound with the verb. Shorten the decay if you have to....but here's the trick. It's only going to serve you for one or two specific songs and then you're done. Keep your music fresh...

Usin reverb on snares is old school tactics in hip hop and still happening to this day. Never got old to me...
