OS 2x - JOYS AND PAINS thread PT1

timing seems better to me, right off the bat, and I wasn't even looking for any improvement. I am talking about no TC, just straight replaying a sequence, sounds more accurate.

The new features are nice, or will be once i learn to use them...

The mixer to fx shortcut makes working QUICK!!! and chopping whoa!

this is always somethign that has confused me - since when has the mpc not had 100% accurate timing?

dloc i'm by no means slamming you so please don't get offended but i've always thought the timing was more accurate than a polygraph...

i noticed on mine that when saving a song using Save Entire Memory it sometimes gives me a Directory Failed error, but if I click Do It again, it works. I also noticed when creating programs in Blue Box then moving them to the flash card and loading them, some of the sounds say File Not Found.... plus, if i dont have the pads set to full, you cant hear the samples when hitting the pads. Just some weird quirks since upgrading.
Thats about it though. Nothing else yet. I am enjoying all the new features for sure.

just a quick question, have you used bluebox before? the reason why i asked is because you will get that message when you don't copy over the actual samples when you create the program in bluebox.

hmmmm... i create the program in bluebox, then do a save all to a folder i create. inside that folder it has the .pgm file and the samples. then I drag that folder onto the flash card, do load then point to that .pgm file in the folder. is this correct? im still semi new to the mpc1000.

Remember timing before OS 1.0.7?. That was Shuffle City
It was bad on 1.0.5, better on 1.0.6 and they solved it with 1.0.7
It depends on what style of music you did but when you programmed straight 16th hihats it wasn't 100% tight.

anyone interested in this might want to check out the thread covering this,(timing issues) cause' that's a major concern in my books, and i still have concerns about it-if you print a 4 bar loop and play it back live over the recording synced up, there's more than a little movement, (i.e., audible phasing).there are a lot of variables in any setup that could be responsible for that,(truncating samples properly, midi interface,ect.) but i think the timing on the machine is still not 100%- anyone else concerned about that put it in the other thread, i'd be interested to see if anyone else is noticing that.

i actually didn't own an mpc before 1.07, i think...heh

that's funny, i'm surprised about that.

nice though that the timing is improved on 2.1.

so was the problem that you'd beat in a pattern and the results would not be what you played? and would autoquantize be not quite what it was supposed to be?

They were small (yet audible) 'hiccups' in timing. Like i wrote, you wouldn't hear it on a loose 8th rhythm but a short attack sound on 16th would have a slight delay (randomly).
This was was caused by the internal clock, i once tested it by triggering the samples from another machine and they were playing tight - no random hiccups.
I'm talking about the 1k's internal samples, cause obviously triggering other midi equipment is a whole different story.

I love the input through when recording main out, that way i can record both the mpc beat and the incoming midi sound from my comp. Also like adding real time effects to the input through.

Sparq, I was wondering if the file format has changed. I've read you're helping the BlueBox guy with a new version, so you might have infos. If it has changed (patalinda's post regarding mpcPad seems to indicate it has), would it be possible to hand on the new specs so that Stephen Norum (creator of mpcPad187) can update his page (maybe his soft).
I haven't had a chance to check differences yet, nor mpcPad. So tell me if I'm wrong.

i remember those days of 1.06.i had to figure out how to compensate for the misnotation on the midi timing...........i'm grateful for the fix.

About the Enveloppe bug.

I noticed now that if i just set the decay to a value higher then 50 i get a random sample after i play the pad.
Very strange.

haha. I noticed some VERY weird sound that the mpc is doing... when i play a sequence and suddenly press the stop button the sound comes its not coming everytime i try, but i got it recorded. here is the clip...: http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1UEC ... 5EYIZ8EYIC

after the hihats is coming the weird sounds, i truly dont know what they are but the definently aint my samples.

if there is NTFS already on the disk you would have to remove that partition and reformat the drive before attempting to format it in the mpc.

i removed the partition and just stuck it back in the MPC. i didnt re-format anything.
