record many q link realtime tune changes over each other by overdubbing

start from hi to low, and continue overdubbing the same - except make it go lower progressively slower

the result is a grainy, garbled pitch shift

Yeah, that gives some crazy effects. Have you tried it with the filters?
You can do the same with volume (and pan) in mixer automation. I like the mixer automation as an alternative for recording track mutes.
Although i have to say you'll get some ugly digital side effects when applying volumes changes on low frequency sources like 808 kicks.

What do you mean you hope they don't do away with that?

Good to hear you like the Empire Strikes Back sig. I think i'm gonna wake up $ean and tell him to go..... home. Even though patience is a virtue, it's been there long enough.

well honestly it seems a lil like a bug

i hope they don't fix it so the fades are smoother, then we wouldn't have this glitchy sound

I don't think they'll do that. Technically it's not a bug. This is just the 96ppqn resolution of the sequencer. The slider data is played back at this high resolution and an overdub (recorded or live) is being added to it.
You'll get a similar effect when recording midi controller data twice for other synths (mod wheel, pitch bend).
I don't see them implementing some kind of smoothing data-filter.
