Zip question - hi - I'm new

Hi,

I#ve been browsing trough all your threads for half an housr now but I could find a topic concerning my problem!

I use a zip drive to storage my sound programms etc, .. So when the zip drives not pluged into my mpc 2000 for a few days my mpc can't recognize it. It normaly takes a few days till the mpc recognizes the zip drive and stops saying scsi's not ready. but know it's going like this for 5 days and I'm going nuts - I changed the channel on the zip drive, etc... and I'm sure the setup is right because it worked before - so can anybody tell me what I have to do that the mpc recognizes my zip disk???

mine does that too. All u gotta do is take the disk out, than as soon as u pop it back in scroll to the scsi id when u hit load and while the disk is still active open the folder and hit load. That works for me. I have to do this every time.

usually this means a bad cable. It kept happening to me until it just didn't recognize it anymore. But this is usually true for the externals. Now if it's internal I suggest purchasing a brand new drive. I have been through like 4 or 5 drives since the xl came out.

Zip drives are so fking weird!! I had to cop 3 until it finally worked out....
my advise: buy an internal zip drive! (or a card reader if you want to prevent problems)

ditch that external zip and get the internal card reader...

AFAIK the mpc 2000 classic can only use an external SCSI cardreader, or you would have to get and internal scsi connection installed in your mpc 2000 which seems like an expensive hack.

It may be the cable I'll try to get a new one - by the way it's my 3rd zip drive - and this one finaly worked!

Hi there! Im new here, and I was thinking... Im from portugal and its impossible to buy a External Zip drive for MPC 2000xl I got mine but if it brokes Im F*uck*d! So... What do you think of taking off the floopy drive and put a Internal IDE Zip drive? The guys from Akai-pro.com told me that bla bla Im gonna get in trubles somethin about overheating! Lol But the new 2000XL comes with a internal zip drive instead of the Floopy drive. What do you know about this? Do have changed the drive and had any problems?

I went from floppy to zip to cf reader on my xl, no problems.
All internal.
