Can this be done using a 2KXL? I assume that it can. If so, does anyone know how to do this? You can't use a CD Player to sample from in this case, correct? ANy help receives mad props. Peace.

If you have a decent soundcard, it'll have outputs on it. Just run the outputs from the computer into the 2kxl. Finito.

Or.

Hook up a tape player with a mic or just the outputs on the film source to the tape player record that and then play the tape into the mp.

Or.

If you have your home stereo hooked on AUX to your computer so you can watch movies on your computer and use your boom box speakers, run the speaker, sub, or AUX outputs on the boom box into the input on your MP...

Or...if you have the Digital in/out card on your MP, and a digital out/in on your computer soundcard, run it like that for a clean signal...

Hope that helps.

Your question leads me to think you want to go directly between DVD player and MPC so....

Surely you could just get some Phono to jack stereo cables and adjust the DVD output volume and rec input gain on the MPC?

Or use a PC to extract and edit the audio files and edit and load em in via card/zip...

i did this the other day... with the right cable, you can go out of the headphone jack on your computer( if it will play DVD's ) right into the mpc... peace

got ya..... in this case, I would maybe go out of the TV headphone jack or another TV output.....

assuming the signal is clean!

I actually have an MBOX as my soundcard, no onboard sound on my computer. I have the MPC going into a small Mixer, but I was wanting to either use the DVD burner that is attached to my computer or if needed I could connect from an external DVD player to the MP. I just am not sure exactly the best way to hook it up and if I am supposed to play the movie and during the scene that I hear the music I want to sample to start recording then? I am not sure of the science of how to achieve this. Any clarification is appreciated. Sorry for the confusion. Peace.

they are called audio cables.
generally they send audio from one source to a destination.

however, i think in your case they may be proven more effective if tightly wound around your neck....i mean the lack of oxygen to your brain couldnt possibly do any MORE damage, or could it????

If you go direct from the TV sound output to your MPC then you normally end up with like a very high pitched buzz. Better to have your TV running through your stereo first (or I guess a DJ mixer) before sampling it in, as this gets rid of that noise.
