I've tried to hook this up to my computer to record into cool edit and all I get is fuzz. I have the 8 outs on my mpc into a three channel mixer line 2 out from either record or booth into my stock three input soundcard. I tried putting it into the mic/line/headphones jack on my soundcard and none of them worked. What do I need to do? Thanks!

What kind of soundcard do you have (Soundblaster, M-Audio, MOTU)? and what type of outputs does your mixer have (rca line out, 1/4" outputs)?

You'll need to get an 1/8" female y-adapter to do this. Plug your rca output from your mixer into the adapter, then plug the 1/8" adapter into your soundcard input. This should do it...

I already have an rca to 1/8 y cable and it didn't work. I plugged from my mpc out to the line 2 in on my mixer from the booth or record out to my soundcard and nothing.

Maybe it's the settings within the Cool Edit program. I use Audition (same program as Cool Edit) and I have to go to options, then settings to make sure my soundcard is configured correctly. If that doesn't work, then...ummm I don't know :?

I'm having trouble figuring out how you have 8 outputs plugged into a 3 channel mixer. Maybe you could specify the mixer and soundcard you're using and we could be of much more help.

sorry I don't have all the outs plugged in. Just a quarter inch adapter on an 1/8" to dual rca plugged into on channel on my Gemini ps 626 PRO mixer. I'll try and change the settings on cool edit.

Try this, connect the y cable from the stereo outs on your mpc to the 1/8 inch line input on your sound card. The DJ mixer isn't neccessary for what you're trying to do. Also check the software mixer of your soundcard. Go into Settings> Control Panel> Sounds and Multimedia> checka ll the setting for the soundcard and make sure the volume is about 75-85% up and that the line in is not muted. Also, to hear what you're recording plug your headphones or spekaers into the headphone or line out on your soundcard. If you have your speakers hooked up to your mixer then you'll need another y cable from the line out of your soundcard to the input on your mixer.

i can't do that because the 1/8" end has a 1/4" adapter on it and the other end is a dual rca. should I find a double 1/8" cable or get a female rca with an 1/8" end and connect them together that way?

You're killin' me Smalls!

Take the 1/4 inch adapter off. Get two female rca to male 1/4 inch adapters and connect them to the rca's on the y cable. Plug the y cable w/ 1/4 inch adapters into the MPC stereo outputs. Plug the 1/8 inch connector into the 1/8 plug in your soundcard.
