I have the extra outs on my mp. Do yall run each drum sound in stereo or mono. Like have the kick going out 1/2 have the snare go out 3/4. or are your kicks going out 1 your snare going out 2. Im not new to this Ive just always recorded like this. Some one asked me the other day why i was recorinding like this and i was like........huh.... just incase I stack my kick or snare and pan the stack to the left or right. Or just for thickness. Let me know what you do.

i dont have the 8 outs (yet) but if i'd have em id probably do like real drum sessions recordings, havin kick, snares, etc on individual mono channels , while keepin the overhead on stereo (or two separate channels pan potted left + right) etc...

No need whatsoever to record any sound as stereo if the sound itself isn't stereo. That's a waste tracks. Record it as mono. You can always pan sounds in the recorder or software. They don't need to be stereo to do that.
Peace

Ive always recorded my drums and bass in stereo. O.k so now Ill give this a try. all my drum samples are in stereo, if i got a sound and it wasnt in stereo i converted it.

if i already made a beat, can i convert my drum sounds to mono now as well? how to do it in the mpc?
i just started using 8 outs and i discovered some sounds ocuppying 2 outs instead of 1.
i have it connected to my ins in soundcard and on separate sonar tracks but i want my kick to be mono from the mp and just make it stereo in sonar because its a waste of outs like someone stated. thanks...

well i dont have the outs on my mpc (yet), but i do have 16 on the s5k. i usually route all sounds to individual outs instead of stereo.

yo Smoove03, how do you work with the s5k? do you do sample and chop on it or just use it for akai discs and chop on the mp? just got one and trying to figure it out.
