im coming close to buying an mpc and i dont wanna wait another 2 months to get the 2500...or 4000 those are out the 60 and 3000 have a text based editor...too old for my tastes 2000 is basically a downgrade of the xl so that leaves the XL and 1000 which has better sound quality and which has better pads...

you cant really go wrong with either one

I suggest a 1k , its mobile and a quality machine

all mpc's are good - have good think sound as well

people will tell u the 1k pads are low end

nah

I have had mine for over a year now and I have no issues

I don't know about sound quality but the pads on the 2000xl are much much better. That being said, I still prefer the 1000 over the xl. The workflow is much cleaner and easier on the 1000, in my opinion. Easier to transfer files back and forth or back up data. hard drive support, new OS, portability etc etc. the benefits outweigh the drawbacks by far. If you got to akai's website, they used to have a comparson chart with all of the MPC's lined up against each other so it was easier to see all the features and deciede which one is best for you.

the chart has to be updated. the old chart that was there had the old specs for the 1k. now with the upgrade, they have to redo it.

Go to Guitar Center and try both of them out. Hell, take a flash card and upgrade it to 2.1 if they havent already so you can see for yourself

save yourself some money and get the 1k if you're looking for a primary beatmaking machine

if you're just doing live drumming/sample playing and want really good pads, get the 2000xl, or even save some money and get a 2000.

1k sounds cleaner and abit dried,
2k sounds a bit dirty (not that significant) but both have the same specs !

get the 1k ,because of the work flow being faster.2000 and XL are good machines, but work will become a nightmare,I had the XL. still your choice. 8) 8)
