Hey RnR,

So I assume your footswitch is working perfectly in 1.07? If so, I TOTALLY feel your frustration. I am having a simillar issue with song position pointer info.

And the people not having these problems probably think it's user error. Until they witness it for themselves, it doesn't exist. And in their world, it DOESN'T exist so they will never understand.

I hope someone from Akai is truly monitoring these threads so they can investigate these matters for us. They made the os. They are the only ones who can fix it.

yeah man, u used it all the time in 1.07! and of course i checked all settings on the MPC, and checked my footswitch with my micron...nothing

next i'm gonna re-install 2.10, and pray...i was planning on using the mpc for a show next week, and the footswitch tap tempo was essential.

yeah, we totally need to get this info to Akai; with Ableton, for example, they have a forum just for bug reports--on their own website--which they monitor and take action upon.

its so weird that A)no one else has the specific problems we have and B) these functions worked before. Just what is the variable here!?! To me, allthough i don't like this possibility, it sounds like a physical hardware issue.

Funkybeats, did you by chance send your mpc to VST to get it serviced?
I did, and then i heard that it's common practice to send out a different refurbished machine as soon as they receive warrantee send backs, to "speed up the process". Maybe they sent back a MPC from a bad batch?

i don't know, just some caffine-fueled speculations...

RnR,

Very good points, my man. And nope, I never sent mine out to VST because I never had a single problem with it ever. It's been a rock solid machine since day one.

I am totally with you on being confused as to why this is only happening to us and no one else. But you know, this os is still very very new. Maybe there will be other people who will report this problem as time goes by.

I hate to think it's a hardware problem so I have an idea. I have a friend in town who also has an mpc1k. He just installed 2.10 too. I'm gonna ask him can I borrow it and then hook it up in my studio and see if his works.

If his does work, then I will know there is something physically wrong with my machine. If his doesn't work, then I know it is something wrong with 2.10.

Thanks for the feedback.

yeah, thats a good idea.

still, about the footswitch, it should be more straigthforward. i reloaded 2.10 earlier, and the footswitch worked again fine. this is strange. i cannot really imagine how it could be a hardware issue... would be interesting to get more clue though.

the only think i can think of would be that another setting would interfere with the footswitch (this can happen with software, even a setting which seems unrelated). thats why i would try the reset (erase + power up). after the footswitch should work straight (doing play). if it does not work, then maybe there is a "bad batch" ...

I hear you. Did you read where I re-loaded it and the problem I am having with SPP stopped for a very brief period, then out of nowhere, it just stopped working again? I tried the erase + power up thing too. Did not work here.
then maybe there is a "bad batch"

That's why I am about to try another experiment tomorrow with my friend's mpc. That will help me narrow down where the problem is. Is there something wrong physically with my mpc or maybe something in the particular 2.10 file I keep downloading? Who knows at this point?

If his mpc works in my studio, then I will know there is either something physically wrong with my mpc or there is something wrong with the 2.10 os version that I downloaded... twice.

sure man. i cannot really comment on the SPP though, because i do not use it (and sync is a lot more fiddly than a footswitch).

let us know with your experiment.

well, as an update(and to keep this thread warm), i did try the hold-down-erase-while-powering-up thing. still no go on the footswitch.

so next, i'm gonna re-download 2.10, and re-install. also, funkybeats, i'll check the SPP thing too.

i haven't emailed akai support yet...does anyone think it will help?
