tracking with 1k into protools

im tryin to find an easier way to track. i got mbox which only has 2 ins. track by track muting all but one to record a stereo into protools the only way? HELP! thanks

thats why I have been telling people that the mbox was a peice of crap only 2 ins. You might have to get an upgrade

i track by panning 2 tracks into a stereo signal into my delta 66

just bite the bullet

and be thankful you don't have upwards of 40 mpc tracks in one song like i do

Upgrade to the Digi002/r or get a mixer. You might still only be able to track one stereo track at a time with a mixer but it'll greatly speed this up for you.

dont mute the tracks solo the ones you want to hear or record much faster

yo thanks alot yall.. im tryin to get the 001 off my boy cause he gettin the 02. its a process trackin one by one but il get used to it.

another question... how about slaving protools to the mpc? i have it hooked up midi and the protools slaves the mpc. it would be radder if protools listened to the mpc. any way to hook it up specifically to do this? thanks!

I record into an 001. I don't use midi though.

It takes me a long time because I first record a click on a Pro Tools track, then I record the other drum hits to their own tracks as well. And I do this, aligning everything with the click, on up to 30 tracks, so that it could take most of the day for me to get it all down. One the up side, each Pt track can be mixed and messed as part of a PT session.

hook up midi and choose the midi beat clock in protools for the midi ins out of the mpc and you should be able to [play] on protools transport and your mpc will sync. get your tempos right and its fairly simple to record on the grid.

i did not like putting my beats into pt at first since you had to go track by track but u will get use to it and your start doing it faster and it wont be a problem anymore...

i hope u r only recording the 4 or 8 bar loop then copy, right? cause if u r doing each track thru its entirety then you will be taking up a significant amount of time. 4 minute song with 12 tracks is 48 minutes of tracking and thats ruff for just one song.

lol yeah that is what i did the first time around then i started thinking why not just do 4 bars only but sometimes i have to let some tracks play the whole thing like for strings cuz sometimes it sounds it get choped...

Do you have the Mbox or the MBox 2. Not sure if the MBox has digi in but the mbox2 has digital in which is two more tracks you can record simutaneously track out using output one and two of you MPC and use the digi in on your mbox 2 to track two more

Yeah, I have the MBOX and it's a btich to track out my beats. It actually takes longer than the whole beat making process! hahaha I need to upgrade to a DIGI002 but I'm very comfortable with the MBOX, that's the problem.

If you got the MBOX, and got it down no sweat, digi 002 will cause you no grief, I assure you. Plus you already know how to use LE...within a weekend you'd have it down 4real. Once you're patched you can just use the software to get stuff done instead of the actual faders if you're more comfortable with it.
