This is the weirdest thing ever. I totally deleted 2.10 off my PC, then re-downloaded it again. I installed it on my mpc again and still had the exact same problems... however;

Out of frustration, I just kept pressing PLAY then REW, then FF on my sequencer. After about a min of doing that, the mpc started following the SSP!!! What the hell? I got all excited!!!

Then out of nowhere, it just stopped all by itself and I cannot get it to follow SSP anymore. I tried just pressing the transport controls on my sequencer again hoping it would miraculously start working again, but no dice.

I'm done. Can't do this anymore.

So sadly for me, it's gonna have to be 1.07 until they release another os.

For those of you whom it is working for, count yer blessings.

I don't know if this will help, seeing that you're using logic. However, in Nuendo, i took out the option to "Always Send Start Message" and enabled "MIDI Clock Follows Project Position" and now the mpc1000 follows the position when i FF and RWD in my host transport.

so you have cakewalk set to transmit SSP to sync? i'm not familiar with cakewalk but does it have midi clock? maybe since the 1k only has midi clock, you can try to change cakewalk to midi clock to see if that works.

aflo,
I am using Cakewalk and I do have the "Always send start option" which I keep enabled, but I don't have the other setting you described. It just automatically works. Thanks for the suggestion.

sparq,
Yes, I have Cakewalk set up to transmit SPP and yes, it transmits midi clock. That's the only way I can get it to slave my mpc because the mpc doesn't recognize MTC. I keep Cakewalk set to transmit midi clock and SSP. Works perfectly with 1.07. Thanks for your suggestion.

DJ-T,
I just checked my PM. So you live in the same town as me? GREAT! Come on over brother and help me! I need another pair of eyes to see this and verify so everyone doesn't think I'm crazy here. lol

xparis001,
The answer to your question is yes. Thanks everyone.

"o sadly for me, it's gonna have to be 1.07 until they release another os"

Out of curiosity how is lack of SPP such a show stopper? All it is doing is automatically positioning another sequencer's location when editing. It can be done manually. For all the cool features of the new OS, a bug better be something that actually prevents me from working before I give up new features.

Out of curiosity how is lack of SPP such a show stopper?

It is a critical show stopper for me because I have the drum parts for my entire song laid out in my mpc. So when I am working on parts or a remix or whatever (in my sequencer), when I get to that part in the sequencer, I need the mpc to follow me. My mpc also follows my hard disk recorder. That is a must have for me.

It can be done manually.

Manually?

There's no way I have the time to manually enter song position info in the mpc everytime I stop, REW or FF my sequencer or hard disk recorder.

Say for example I am recording a vocalist in my studio and we need to punch in a part. We might have to punch in many times until we get the take we want. I am not gonna sit there and manually enter SPP info into the mpc while doing that.

For all the cool features of the new OS, a bug better be something that actually prevents me from working before I give up new features.

Exactly. And that is why I must continue working with 1.07 because it does what I need it to do. I was very happy with my mpc1k when I first bought it. I am still happy with it today. The new features of 2.10 are fine, but they are not a deal breaker for me. I can still do everything I need with 1.07. The 2.10 features are just icing on the cake for me.

I want to give some props to DJ-T. He called Akai tech support about my problem without me knowing it. Evidently he got a knowledgeable person on the phone because the tech did not question him about my settings and all that stuff.

The tech simply said, "If it worked for him in 1.07 and it's not working for him in 2.10, then it is a bug." Finally someone who understands this basic principle.

Then the tech asked him for my version of sequencer software and is going to try to duplicate my problem and report back to him later.

Halleluiah! Now THAT'S how you get to the root of a problem and fix it.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out if you're interested.

quick dumb rebuttle. Maybe your problem lies within the MIDI cables. When the conductors get old and currode, they act really funny. It could aid in the reason why your MPC doesn't receive incoming signals from your seq. Upon reinstalling 2.0, you might have slightly moved your mpc which could have slightly moved your MIDI cable. Whenever I have sync problems, I always check my cables first.

Just a dumb thought to add to the discussion.

Hi Jay,

I appreciate your concern, but I know that's not it. The reasons are because my mpc is recieving signals from my sequencer. It starts and stops just fine. Just doesn't FF and REW.

Also, I have installed 2.10 and 1.07 about 3 times each in the last few days. I've become an expert at that now. lol

1.07 is always perfect.

2.10 is always messed up.

My studio is set up where I don't have to touch any midi cables. It's a solid layout.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I am gonna continue working with this Akai tech. I have a good feeling about his ability to help me.

Problem solved. :D

The tech called back. He said he tested it with my software and it worked perfectly. So he said it was his opinion that I had a corrupt version of the os. I told him I downloaded it twice.

His suggestion was to get it from a different source. I agreed that was a good suggestion.

So I downloaded it again from a different computer, loaded it up and BAM!!! Instant SPP! Yeah baby!!! That's what I'm talking about!

Now if I can just get that one program to play at a level where I can hear it, I'll be all good. If anyone knows a fix for that problem, I'm all ears!

Thanks to everyone who responded and tried to help. :)

glad to know you got your problem sorted, but what do you mean, "a different computer?" do you mean you physically went to another pc and downloaded it from akaipro.com, or did the tech guy give you another download link? cheers in advance.

I have 2 computers in my house. So I downloaded it from the same link at akaipro.com but from my other computer. Both computers are connected to the same router.

I guess my first computer just didn't like 2.10. lol

And thanks for the good wishes!

that's strange how one computer could change a file like that! did the tech guy have an explanation, or did he just put it down to 'gremlins'?
