getting my mpc1k @ work tomorrow...

I've been dreaming about this box since I discovered mpcs..... Finally I get to join you guys. Only problem is its being shipped to my work & I'm staying w/ my girl this weekend and she has no computer. I'm trying to get a little 'care package' together so I can load up my mpc1k @ work and have a ton of stuff to play with thru the weekend. so far on the list I've got:

os 2.10
some choice breaks/drum machine samples/a few samples of other shizz .. horns n stuff.
my camera full of coversation recordings
printout of the manual

since im new to the mpc i'm not sure whats hot and whats not. anyone have anything i should add to my list?? i gotta make it count... wouldn't wanna have to set the mpc down and hang out with my better half this weekend ;D

I guess you'd probably want a fair sized Compact Flash card and reader...I don't know about the MPC but on my sp-404 that's how I store all my made beats, save samples, transfer back/forth from computer, all that jazz...

just dont forget your headphones at home

there are some nice soundbanks and kits at akaipro that you may like to try as well (check the 2500 soundbank and the kit of the week archives)

jus read threads as much as you can, load up on samples to, because you
can't make beats looking around and not playing that mpc. check into upgrading your mpc with the HD kit and harddrive, ram,and memory card it's a must,and get those headphones.

If it wasn't for you guys tellin me not to forget my headphones, I would of forgotten the 1/4" adapter. good lookin out life is pretty grand right now hopefully i'll have some beats for you all in a week or so. I read the thread on RAM and will be picking up some today if I can find that specific kind in the comp shop. Todays friday so I can screw off at work all day today & leech samples! w00t! thanks again for the tips men!

It's beautiful. I'm amazed. It's everything I've always wanted. seriously guys, group hug. i'm f'ing speechless. the pads feel so much better than the akai mpd-16. the mpd16 is a joke compared to these pads.
