Just got my 4000 today and I already got a prob

FINALLY. I don't know what the deal was I just rebooted it and loaded a program and it worked. Apparently my MPC is a female.

Whew. I'm not the only one then. I thought I got gipped because his is brand new.

they gave me two cd's, one with sounds on it, and another for some shit called "ak.systems".

I'm having the same problems as jus though. I loaded the sounds and assigned them to pads, but I can't hear nothing. I don't have speakers, just my headphones plugged in and, yes, the volume is turned up. I've been messing around for hours but can't hear anything.

damn i didnt get any disks.as far as ak.sys i just dl'd it from the akai website.

You still need to assign sounds to a program and keygroup....this is a bit different from the other MPC's but you have to get the hang of keygroups to effectively use the 4000...

dont you really mean the sound has to be assigned to a program, and then the program has to be assigned to a MULTI? a keygroup, is'nt that several programs linked?

As they say here in the south - Tru dat - You need to understand Multi's, Keygroups, and Programs if you're ever gonna get your money's worth out of the MPC4000....

Ok I think I know waht the problem was. When whoever had it before me did his programs, when they load they are not on the default pad scheme. So I had to go to the sample page see how many samples there were for whatever program as on and then go to the pad assign page and roll it to a number that made a sound. So I'm jsut hitting the same pad, and rolling for ever till I hear smething and then the next pad until I have however many different samples the program has assigned to it laid out. Seems like it shouldn't be that way. Like one would be assigned to 47 wich is such and such a note another would be asssignes to like 65 or something. You would think they would all be in order and load up by default. And even when I go to the program page and try to assign I see nothing and can't even move into the pad field. So dunno. But I guess I'm just ognna lok through waht this cat has and delete what I don't like which is most of it and that should simplify things as well as clear up some memory. So basically I got more reading to do on this.

yeah thats what i would do,and then just start all over.
