Problem using the same program with diffrent banks(help!)

When I used the same program but diffrent banks or even on a diffrent track the sound write over the previous recorded track. Say I have a program with drums in bank A and samples in bank B I'll record a drum track on seq 10 track one but when I choose the same sequence and try to record my sample on track three the new track will erase my drums on track one. If I rename the program this won't happen. Any explanations?

I just don't understand: same programme, but one with drums the other with samples?

is the pgm set to play poly instead of mono?

My programs are quite clean and everything is set to poly, no mute groups, nothing that could cause this. When i delete a certain track (which changes randomly as far as i can tell from seq to seq) it fixes the problem, but not if i MUTE the offending track... which would fix polyphony/muting problems anyway.
The issue at hand here sounds more like voice stealing to me than anything, but i would assume the MPC1k has enough voices to put together a decent house drumline and instrument section. Eh, who knows.
