load sounds into mpc2000xl?

im really close to picking up an mpc1000. the main attraction to it for me, over the 2000xl is the usb support (i have a 20GB sample library on one of my hard drives).

im just checking myself on this - is it true that the only ways to get a sample into the 2k is either with SCSI or by sampling?

I transfer all my files from the computer to the MPC using zip disks. I'm sure it's not as convenient as the USB function on the MPC1000, but it gets the job done without any problems.

you dont need software. when you insert the zip disk into the drive a icon should come up on your desktop. then you just drag and drop your files in there. wala

Actually there's the MPCpgm maker. much like the MPC Editor but for Mac users. It would make transfers a breeze as you could assign your samples to MPC pads on the virtual MPC and send them to zip via your MAC. And the best part of it is you don't have to re assign the pgm.

Yup. I use the MPC Program Maker and it works great. I'm using OS 9.2.2, but I know it works fine on OSX also. You don't really need anything more than a zip on your mac and a zip in your mpc to transfer files. The program maker is a nice bonus, but not necessary.

For your Mac, make sure you are using PC Format Zip disks (DOS Format.)
