man, it's been a great week, besides school starting. I bought an S950 for 250 shipped. Took the memory cards out of it, the face plate, the shell, the display and switched the said parts with the beat up ones from mine. Sold it on ebay, completely stock for 300.

then I run up on what seems to be a shiesty deal for an MPC 3k but I go through with it, paid through paypal with a credit card etc. I won't say how cheap I got it because yall would forever hate me because it's unreal, un-F'ing real...back to the point. I'm expecting it to be all haggered and shit, it comes today in a flight case, so I open it up.....BAM! a limited edition joint. and it looks mint to me. I turned it on, sure enough it works. Man, sooo dope. Karma came back to me man. The MPC 1000 I was scammed on, all the beats I've given the homies for free, the free recording time etc. I'm gonna take this to the beach with me this summer so I can make beats when I have the time. Anyway, I loaded up some pics real quick.

Beautiful!

Where you get the 3k? Ebay?

By Deta!L Wed Feb 01, 2006 11:24 pm
yeah, some dude on ebay said he had 3 of them so I sent him a message..we did it off of ebay though

I think the disk drive is bad though, it says errors FF80 and FF20, I don't have a spare zip to format to see if the zip drive will work yet. But it won't take any floppys or format them so far....Off to use the search features and try to see what type of drive this takes

it has OS 3.11

clean machine!! congrats:)

so the le, has 3.11 in flashrom?!! Thats a new advantage i didnt know, if so..

By Deta!L Wed Feb 01, 2006 11:42 pm
I guess so, it boots up with OS 11 (6/11/96)

damn I'm gonna have to shell out $10 bucks for a zip disk so I can make a beat on it tonight...argh!

some cool things I"ve noticed, just tooling with it real quick. the buttons are concaved in a little bit, which is kind of neat. the note var. assign button is good to have, the only effects it has are delay? and the main screen button is out of place haha

If you don't like the buttons caved in check under the hood to see if the button board thing is screwed in all the way.

The MPC3000/MPC3000LE don't use FLASH ROM.

They both use UV-EPROM ...

MPC3000LE models shipped standard with version 3.11, the last "AKAI BRANDED" os.

A lot of MPC3000 Standard Edition machines shipped with 3.11 also.

Maybe just open the machine up and see that the floppy hasn't been disconnected in transit, incorrectly hooked up, etc...

Pesky Teac "you know the model number already" version with all those jumpers on the circuit board.

Mike's www.mpc3000.com site hosts this info:

cool, just checked that site. think I found one on ebay that might work. I emailed the dude to see if he could send me pics of the back.

I'll check that site to see how to open this beast up.

If you're a member of the 3000 list at yahoogroups you can download the VGA installation instructions.

is it possible that he "parked" the drive for shipping? if they can do that on a 3K?

Yeah! thnx for clearing that out, uv-eprom...
I'm still thinking of upgrade to the LE, fr my standard. It will set me back a couple of hundreds,. It is brandnew and it could be nice, mine have 10years of usage, and 3.01 in eprom, some buttons are to pop soon.
So every argument is welcome :)
