I appreciate what they do on some other forums (eg. elektron users) which is making one thread gathering together all the actual observed bugs of the new OS.. then we could send our list to Akai at some point and make sure they get the info.

I know we have 'pains' thread; but to gather stuff thats actually a 'bug' would be a little more focussed and specific. Stuff that's just 'they still don't have this', or 'i wish autoslice did stereo' is not a bug, more like a feature request (though still valid).

The thing is, the thread would have to be heavily moderated though... I dunno if people would be able to stand that without having a fit :).

Does anybody think that's a good idea?

yeah it's definitely a good idea.

though i know where you want to go with this and i can see where it would be useful but you have to look at it from tutors point of view.

yes we do have the pains thread. we also have the first joys/pain thread. he wouldn't want to have too many threads saying the same thing. i agree with you, if one was created, it would have to be heavily moderated but then people would start catching feelings again if their post is deleted. then we will get people posting in that thread and not searching first to see if was stated already.

besides, akai is already going through the pains thread. they are all up in here. they know. but i can say, don't expect a 2.10.1 or a 2.11 anytime in the extreme future. the 1k is not the only mpc that needs to be addressed. just know that it is being looked at.

so my suggestion would be to continue to post the problems and/or "bugs" in the 'pain' thread. (for now)

Yep, everybody wants to start a thread like that when there are already threads around for that purpose. quit it.

Alright, well I'm not the one who has to deal with moderating the forum, so the decision is yours.

To take a different spin on it, if the 'pains' thread is going to be the way to do it, why not make it a sticky? And another way to make it more productive, (again something I've seen elsewhere) would be to keep editing the first post with a tight list of bugs that are definite and confirmed. I realize that would require someone to do that job.

I want everyone to understand, I'm not slamming the new OS... in fact I think it would help the mood around here anything we could do to keep the bugs and complaints specific, accurate and to the point. When people feel like we are working together to build a good list, which actually makes Akai's job easier, it's more satisfying for everyone instead of a bunch of individual bug threads.

has anyone else checked to see if their 64th slice gets cut short after you zone into a new pgm? i'll leave this thread alone after this but i brought it up in the pains thread with no response. peace.

:D Ok...so it is among two that is being worked on (with practically the same OS).

this suggestion of a locked stickythread where the moderator could just cut'n paste all known bugs and possible workarounds has been up before.
that way it won't turn into a bullshitakai thread.

sure, there will some effort in collecting the info and make it a thread.
but when it's done the mpc1000 subforum will be much more organized and
the bugsticky can be used as a referential to prevent a hundred new post about the same bug.

if you want. i can collect the known buginfo and make it a thread for you.
when it's done it's easy to keep adding on that thread when new bugs reveals or possibly get fixed. PM me if you want it and i'll happily fix it for ya 8)

"keep the bugs and complaints specific, accurate and to the point."

Are you kidding? We can't even keep the MPC1000 forum just about MPC1000's. Now someone thinks that there could be a thread not only about MPC1000's, but also only about confirmed and verified bugs?

Now for my take. I would not encourage any type of 'bug tracking' or bug posting system. The best place for bugs is in a private exchange between the finder and Akai Pro. Sound silly but that is the best thing for the MPC1000 community. Public posting of commerical product bugs only scares away potential buyers and deprives the manufacturer of additional funds/resources to fix the bugs. It actually ends up working against the product and affects the existing owner base. This comes from experience in the field.

I have a confirmed MPC2000XL bug list that would scare the pants off existing owners and looks so bad that it scares buyers from buying anything from Akai Pro, period.

Hell naw

I am all for posting bugs. Akai and all the other companies out there will step up their game if these problems are known. They should have asked real-MPC users (like myself) to help beta-test the software. If I can find numerous problems within 24 hours with an OS...it wasn't tested properly.

As far as the XL...that is a pretty solid unit for music production. I am pretty sure that you can tax it and find some problems..but from normal use...you really can't complain, which is why it is still the #1 used hardware sequencer/drum machine.
