Yes ive done a seach and continuous clicks of the "next" link and haven't found the answer to my question..

So heres the Q: Basically I have alot of software synths (e.g. virtual instruments in protools). What I want to know is how I can get the sounds my midi keyboard is triggering to record into the MPC.....BUT.. "while a loop of drums or something is playing"..?

Is this possible? Ive been through the manual and believe me I haven't seen any topic on this there..

What MPC are you using ?

Keyboard's MIDI-OUT to mpc MIDI-IN
Mpc's MIDI-OUT A to Soundcard's MIDI-IN.

Load a miditrack in PT, set the correct inputchannel. Load a softsynth, and that's pretty much it. Record the notes in the mpc, on any miditrack, and set PT to the same channel.

Thats done already. This doesnt record the sounds from the instruments on pro tools into the mpc. It just records the notes I pressed. I want to get those actual instrument sounds into my mpc, i want to be able to play these notes while a drum loop is playing. e.g. record live into the mpc while a drum loop is playing on another track.

Right...Not possible.

But I don't see the point in that either. Why is recording the notes not a better option for you?

I hardly have any samples to put on zips. Well I have mostly percussion samples. All my strings, basses etc are in my RTAS Instruments. Thats why.

Lets just say I want to sample while the beat is playing. So I have my m-audio soundcard outs 3/4 going into the line in's of the mpc. Out of my soundcards output 3/4 is where the RTAS instruments sounds will be coming out from (i will set the outputs of the channels in protools to 3/4).

Ok so I prest shift and sample the record screen comes up BUT how do I actually get to record the sample at the same time as a beat I have tapped into the mpc on track 1?

Let me know if any of you got that..

When ever I press shift and then sample, then the sample screen comes up and I try to record it will record but not at the same time as the beat ive already tapped into the mpc. If i press record on the sample screen then press play. The mpc just takes me to the main screen.

the link i gave shows how to do it on the 1k, maybe it'll work for you. does the 2kxl have an input monitoring function? if so, you can monitor the RTAS instruments which you are playing, whilst playing the sequence on the mpc, and then pressing record on the mpc when you want to sample the sound.

hope this helps

That goes for most of us i think. The mpc simply doesn't have the memory to store huge patches of instruments like a vst.
Plus it would be a huge task to multisample all thos instruments on the mpc.

I have a 2000xl too, and i always use it along side with my computer. All the drumsamples come from the mpc, and the instruments from softsynths. This gives you the best of both worlds:
You use the mpc's sequencer, and the computers huge soundlibrary.

oh, too late.....

As far as I know that doesn't work on the 2000xl.
