OS 2.10 HARDCORE ERROR

me and my homeboy was home making beats on the mpc1k, with the new OS.. we sliced a sample with the zoning function, we started out with a 2 bar loop, and then sliced it into 16 chops..then we noticed that the sample changed sound, even we had´nt timestretched it or something, but the sound got different, especially the vinyl static sound, it got more ugly, not more gritty and cool, but it sounded bitrate compressed in a digital way, like in compressed mp3 files.. this bug sucks dick.. smart guys, fix it.. woohoo

this has not happened to me. chopping does not change bitrate.

A possible answer to this would be that you chopped a stereo sample. By slicing it up it the slices turns to mono (nothing you can do about that), due to phase problems a clean sounding stereo sample can sound really shitty when converted/panned into mono.
If you have an stereo sound with phase problems there´s better to pick one channel and sample and chop it from there, or to chop your sample in stereo via the Extract function. But remember then that anyone playing your beat through mono equipment will hear the same scrunched up audio you´re hearing now (if this infact is a phase problem).

i just tried to dl the update and tried to upload it on my mpc madd times. and it goes through the process but then just goes to a blank screen. it doesnt let me see anything on the lcd and i tried uploading this plenty of times. i ended up having to go to 1.7 os because i could not get the 2.10 to work... also how do u format a harddrive?

Yes, the Extract funtion keeps the stereo image of the sample while Slice merge the two channels into one.

then it's better doing the stereos in Recycle! damn!! i have'nt used the slicer yet but if it can't handle proper stereos. it's abit dissappointing. well.. maybe the self oscillating LPF2 make up for it anyway
