Hi folks - first post. Thanks for the knowledge people drop on here - I've been reading up! However, couldn't find anything on my issue...

I loaded the OS2.1 .bin file on the CF card.
I placed the CF card in the MPC.
I powered up the MPC whilst holding the 'window' button, but I get the message:

OS boot version 1.03.
CF card not inserted, please insert CF card.

I fiddle with the card - same thing. I pop it out and in - same thing. I power down and try the process again - same damn thing.

Now, if I turn on normally the MPC does not recognise the CF card. I tried another card and it still doesn't see the card. The load page shows a blank where the files on the CF card should be displayed (I have 'show all files' selected). I also tried powering up whilst holding 'erase' - still the CF card is not recognised.

So in trying to update the OS, I'm left with an MPC that I cannot load or save samples with!

Everything worked fine before, so it must be the software change. I checked the pin alignment in the CF slot and that is fine. This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

How can I get things working again? What should I do???

how many OS .bin files do you have on your card? do you have an external card reader for your computer? if so try back up everything that's on your card and reformat the card then only put the new os bin file on there and try reinstalling the os. now you are holding down the window button when you power up aren't you? if so, let it go throught the setup pressing "rec" when prompted to and do not touch it until it comes completely up.

let me know what's up.

Thanks Sparq,

I made sure there was only one .bin file on the card and yes, I am holding down 'window' during power up.

I have the CF reader, so will try as you suggest this weekend and just have the .bin file only on the card - then try again whilst crossing my fingers.

OK I tried again with just the bin file on the card, but no joy.

My MPC has stopped recognising the CF drive - i.e. I can't load or save to any card (I've tried the 3 different cards that I have).

I tried using a USB cable from the PC to the MPC (with a CF card in the drive), to see if it would work that way - but still the CF drive is not recognised. I got the message (on the PC) that no card was available.

The frustrating thing is that all was fine until I first tried to update the OS.

Do I have to send this for repair or is there any other way I can get things working?

to add to what Sparq's said, try downloading from another PC,sometimes downloading, you don't get the whole .bine's file If you've done what sparq's asked to do. I personally would reformatt the CF card on the MP,then download from another PC,like sparq's said ,if you have a cardreader stick the CF in and put the .bin file on,and then try it. Should work jus fine. we'll get you up and running! 8)

if that's the case, i would CALL AKAI and see if they can assist you in getting your mpc to recognize the CF reader. and tell them that it was working prior to you attempting to load the new OS.
