Mute Group Chopping

Hello,

I was reading the manual, and was wondering about the Mute Group function.

Say I have my sample chopped in different pieces on all 16 pads, does this funtion allow me to make the pads cut each other no matter what ever combination of pads I would hit?

I know with the 4000 you can have all 16 pads cut each other playing/seq any combination in front of u. I know with the 2000xl, this was only possible by assigning(nightmare).

example would be how the SP1200 if assigned to the same output you could make all 8 pads cut each other off and play/seq any combination. Same with the ASR10 in trigger mode.

i would assume (if i understand you correctly) you would be able to do this. after chopping your sample and creating a new pgm, go into that pgm in the program window and select that pgm to play mono. you can leave it on "note on" but if you put it in mono, it should cut off the one playing when you press another pad.

Yes, u are on the right track! But with the 2000xl u could only assign one pad 2 cut off 2 other pads. I was wondering if the function allowed for the cut off of 1 pad cutting off any of the other 15?

I would hit pad 1, then hit pad 5, then hit pad 1 again, and hit pad12, hit pad 14 then hit pad 6...basically any combination of the 16 while sequencing so that the samples/all 16 pads are able to cut each other off while hit another.

Yes, the 2500 can do what you are trying to accomplish.

Didnt understand mute groups and what it was.. Looking at getting the MPC2500..Just wanted 2 know if it would do this function. With the asr 10 I usually would just chop the beginning of each piece of the sample that I want (no need to truncate the ends, less editing) and just play away with the keys.

Kind of missed it when I was using the SP1200 and/or s950. Just truncate the start of each part you want, and let the the pads cut off the ends!

mode>program>highlight the sample on the pad then press window and turn note on? so that when your done pushing the pad that sucker cuts out???????
