Akai files on the PC

Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to dump my beat disks on the PC...

When I try to save the files on my PC, the file names are limited to around 8 characters, snipping the end of the file names, making them all the same file name...

Is there software for the PC that will translate those file formats to make them interchangable...

the only thing u'll be able to transfer between comp and mp are wav files and midi files...

there is a way to make pgms on ur computer, tho. a piece of software called the "mpceditor". it works really well, imo. speeds up sifting through thousands of samples to put together the rite program.

the only way to dump beats to computer is midi...but thats really iffy

and filenames MUST be 8character. the mp doesnt recognize anything greater than that, it truncates it with wierd numbers and characters
