Ive heard stories of peeps using the mpd to trigger the mpc pads. As long as the mpd got midi than its possible. I dont recommend switching to a 1k. If u do I will gladly buy your xl off you

if pads are your problem, then gettin a 1k is the last thing u wanna do.

sure, you can bypass the pads. BUT, if ur gonna be sampling and so forth, then its gonna be one hell of a headache making programs

Plus from whats been said. You can't access the 16 level functions with the MPD16. You would have to use the MPC pads for those functions. :(

why can't i access the 16 levels from the pads, the pads has a 16 level button and it works when i do it that way on the triton......

For velocity or tuning, or both. i know otheres who use the mpd / trigger finger with thier mpc1ks, and cannot access the 16 level function as tuning. The 16 level function for tuning can not be access through an external controller, only internally. Try it out at a Guitar Center, or a Sam Ash, or anywhere that has both. I may be wrong, and maybe these ppl don't know how to access it for that matter. This is not from my own personal experience. Ask this question in the 1k forums, and see what they say....

i do this with my 3000 and 2000... my pads on my 3000 are shot to hell... so i just midi up the 2000 as a controller... works like a charm.. so im just using the 3000 as a sequencer until i get the 3000 fixed....
